Repeat offender, blocking a fire hydrant.
In a neighborhood that had two devastating fires in the past year that gutted the main shopping strip.
What does the Dirty Five-Two do when their dirty cop buddy puts us in danger? Nothing.
More of the same embarrasing, unprofessional, dangerous trash each and every day.
Getting hot in the Dirty Five-Two
206 and perry, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Mon, Jul 19 2010
Let's hope the baking sun is the only thing that gets overheated around.
Because if we have another fire, the FDNY is clearly going to have a hard time getting to a hydrant, what with all the dirty cops blocking them.
They know better than to block the hydrants. Yet here is a dirty cop, from the 49th Precinct with no conceivable purpose to claim "official business" here parking less than 3 feet away.
And the shameless officers here in the Dirty Five-Two refuse to ticket and tow. So those of us who live here continue to hope their arrogance and lack of integrity don't cost somebody their life!
It is downright shameful!!!
Multiple Threat!

They're getting creative about breaking the law and putting people in danger up here in the Dirty Five-Two.
This guy somehow managed to both block a fire hydrant and block a crosswalk AT THE SAME TIME!
Instead of giving him the TWO tickets he deserved, and then towing his car, what did the dirty cops driving by do?
We don't really know... but it's not hard to imagine they were elbowing each other and laughing it up. At any rate, they did not DO THEIR JOB.

Can't find a place to park in front of your house? Too lazy to walk a block or two? No problem if you're a cop who lives in the Dirty Five-Two!
You have your own personal parking spot reserved by the fire hydrant.
(This is not the first time it has been blocking this same hydrant. And it has been reported to the NYPD before too.)
Unaccountable
perry avenue and 209th, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jul 13 2010
Where can you draw a paycheck for doing the very opposite of the job you are paid to perform? Apparently the NYPD!
Take this example. This personal vehicle is parked at a fire hydrant - illegal under any circumstances. It does not even have an NYPD placard, just a bunch of NYPD junk somebody threw in the dashboard.
And it doesn't get ticketed.
A professional police force would be ashamed the NYPD junk in this dashboard looked so, well, junky. But here, they seem to be proud of the fact they look like slobs while breaking the law.
It's all just so pathetic it would be funny... except it's dangerous to our community, and a waste of our hard-earned tax dollars!

perry avenue and east 207th street, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jul 06 2010
So on my way to the subway this morning, I saw a private vehicle on my block that had been ticketed. It was parked about a foot too close to a hydrant.
Then on the next block there was another vehicle parked several feet closer to a hydrant. It was not ticketed. The Dirty Five-Two gave their dirty cop buddy a free pass as soon as they saw his placard.
Do as I say, not as I do? The Dirty Five-Two, breaking the law while writing out tickets to everyone else for less serious offenses.
Another blocked hydrant in the Dirty Five-Two
perry avenue and e 204th, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Mon, Jul 05 2010
Blocked hydrant. By a dirty cop. Welcome to life in the Dirty Five-Two.
You couldn't get these guys to do their job if their life depended on it - in fact, in this case, it sort of does. Fire hydrants stand between life and death, and here they have gotten a lot of use!
This is right on the shopping strip where two devastating fires gutted the community within the past year!!!
Given the context, this goes way beyond stupid. It is outright criminal. These dirty cops, breaking the law like it's the wild west, putting us at risk need to be fired.
We need a few people willing to act like professionals. We need people willing to do the work to earn a paycheck.
We need a few people who actually want to make our community safer.
Just pathetic
E 204th and Mosholu Parkway S, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Fri, Jul 02 2010
It really is pathetic that these guys are so lazy they can't be bothered to walk half a block.
They make the whole police force look inept by branding their laziness with the NYPD logo too.
Or they're so arrogant and petty that they block fire hydrants just to show off they can do it.
The bottom line is this: they have made a commitment to enforce the law. If they are breaking it, they are not honoring their commitments. They are not doing their job, and are not earning their paychecks.
It's not just the handful who are actually parking illegally either. The rest are letting them do it. Covering up for them, even, when law abiding citizens make reports to 311.
So they're all lying and stealing our tax money. Fire the whole lot and get some honest cops up in here!
Professional Courtesy
bedford park boulevard and bainbridge avenue, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Fri, Jul 02 2010
Let's examine this "professional courtesy"...
- A dirty cop parked at a fire hydrant.
- No ticket from the local precinct.
- Everybody in the neighborhood sees the cops breaking the law in broad daylight.
- It is clear to everybody there is no professionalism in the precinct!
So, the cop from another precinct comes into this precinct and makes all the officers here look bad... and they call that "courtesy"??? They stick up for the guy making them look bad because he's lazy?
How about they try a little more intelligent model:
The officers who come into somebody else's precinct obey the law and help their fellow officers look good?!
Come on folks. Just a little common sense!
The cops are responsible for the majority of our day-to-day lawlessness
grand concourse and bedford park boulevard, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jun 29 2010
The dirty cops in our neighborhood are actually responsible for the majority of the day-to-day disorder we witness in our community.
The NYPD used to apply the Broken Windows hypothesis. Experience showed the broken windows that were not fixed attracted more vandalism and worse illegal behavior. The NYPD made a lot of progress by eliminating the small signs of disorder in a community, before they escalated into major crimes.
Now, it's the NYPD breaking the windows!
Making the FDNY look bad
perry avenue and east 207th street, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jun 29 2010
So much for "professional courtesy"!
This vehicle was parked several feet too close to a hydrant, and displayed a patch from the FDNY to avoid getting a ticket. That's right, a patch. Not a placard, just a cheap novelty patch anyone could buy at shops all over town. And it worked with the Dirty Five-Two. While a car parked further from a hydrant a block away got a ticket, this vehicle was not ticketed.
There's no reason to believe the unethical individual parked at this hydrant had any real affiliation with the FDNY at all. But using the patch gives the impression it's a dirty fire fighter who doesn't even respect fire hydrants.
The Dirty Five-Two knows better than to pass over any vehicle parked at a hydrant. There is certainly no excuse for passing over a vehicle with a patch, instead of an official placard.
Making our firefighters look bad is most definitely not "professional courtesy."

Here's another testament for stupidity!
Parked in front of a fire hydrant.

Blocks away from any station house.
What does the Dirty Five-Two do? Nothing!
They just let it block the fire hydrant for hours on end. Who cares if residents (including this idiot's own family or friends) die in a fire. Safety is so unimportant to them, as long as they can show the neighborhood they're above the law.
Dirty Five-Two Puts Us In Danger!!!
perry and east 209th street, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Fri, Jun 25 2010
Let them park anywhere they want, and they'll block the fire hydrants too. They don't care. No honor, and no honesty.
Apparently no intelligence, either... If they're willing to block the fire hydrant so they don't have to walk to get home, they might end up getting their own family killed.
And, as usual, the Dirty Five-Two doesn't care. No ticket on any vehicle with a placard, even if it's blocking a hydrant?
Fire every last one of the cops parked illegally, and every one that drove by without writing a ticket.
Fire them, before somebody dies in a fire!!!

Personal Parking Spot Blocking Hydrant and Crosswalk
skillman ave and 45th st, Queens. Observed by ramteid on Tue, Apr 06 2010
This car is regularly being parked at this spot, blocking not only the hydrant but also the crosswalk. The police self-enforcement placard originally listed a license plate different from the one on the car, but last week or so someone added this car's license plate number to the permit. Not that parking away from the precinct's parking zone in a crosswalk and at a hydrant would get any more legal that way...

Vehicle is regularly blocking hydrants in the Sunnyside Gardens neighborhood. (I am also submitting on picture taken on 3/10 8:22am on Skillman Avenue near 45th ST.)
This morning, just after taking the shown picture, I approached a traffic agent. He explained to me that they don't write tickets to police cars. I insisted that it was not a police car (private licence plates), the parking placard does not match the licence plates, and the parking placard was expired. He still refused to write a ticket or call a tow truck, but he did call his supervisor (lieutenant Green from the Northern Queens traffic enforcement). He came, reviewed the situation, and decided to initialize internal action, based on the placard number only. He still didn't want to write a ticket or call a tow truck, saying that the disciplinary action against the officer will be worse.

Other times it's parked in front of a church, a school, or in a no standing zone. But NEVER in front of HIS house. And why does he take it home? It is an educational vehicle, not something he would need to take to an emergency in the middle of the night.

I guess not. Here's a shiny new Escalade with a non-placard issued by the Uniformed Firefighters Association (Stephen J. Cassidy, President; Joseph A. Miccio, Recording Secretary) parked right in front of a fire hydrant.
