88 Precinct parks in park slope for a movie
15th street and Prospect park west, Brooklyn. Observed by Peter on Sun, Jun 28 2009
Big SUV parked in no standing zone, to close to hydrant. The permit in the window did not match the lic.plate on the SUV. This spot is a favorite spot for NYPD to park and see the movies at the place around the corner. Once again there where open legal spots to park on the block, but hey they would get a ticket, right? Also, what is with the overly tinted windows that seem very popular with the NYPD officers that break the rules?
using NYPD Parking permit to illegally park at meter
10014, Manhattan. Observed by skap6 on Mon, Jun 22 2009
The owner of this vehicle has been parking around the sixth precinct for more than a year without a front license plate and very darkly tinted windows (both NY violations.) I have sent three letters to the captain of the precinct with no action taken. It is currently parked on the east side of Hudson street between Charles and Perry at metered parking. Who is this guy that he can operate his vehicle without a license plate for more than a year without any consequence?????
Can not make out the permit number because the window is tinted very dark.
Fake Permit
Dewey and Quincy, Bronx. Observed by Kat1202 on Fri, Jun 19 2009
All I have is that the car is usually parked on a fire hydrant. The address that is always park at is on Dewey and Quincy about 50-75 feet from 2829 Dewey Ave. I know that this permit is fake, is definetely a photo copy, It folds the fake permit, so you dont get to see the other nypd logo. the sealed that nypd puts is usually on the right side the one the is clear, and then the other part is just a shield with the NYPD logo.
NYPD parking Illegally in Defiance of Community Board 8
East 66th street at Third Avenue, Manhattan. Observed by Dick Tracy on Wed, Jun 17 2009
Continued blatant placard parking abuse in a NO STANDING ANYTIME zone despite a formal request to the commander of the 19th precinct to cease and desist the illegal activity by community board 8M.
These islands are part of the parks department Greenstreets program and this bit of greenery for the community totally being totally disrespected by NYPD employees for their own convenience. Thus rather than a park we have a dog feces/refuse lot surrounded by illegally parked placarded cars.
http://nycgovparks.org/sub_your_park/trees_greenstreets/greenstreets.html
This blatant police parking abuse sets the stage for a cesspool of parking abuse on this street. Why not after all the police are doing it, why not me.
This the meters are full of all day parkers most with bogus placards, a few 19th precinct placards and the so-called truck loading and unloading zone devoid of trucks loading and unloading but full of scofflaws.
Amazingly the community board 8 people misplaced a resolution to change the signage on North side of the street from Trucks loading to normal street parking which would have taken effect about at this time. To this date the cb refuses official comment. A formal complaint has been filed with the borough president's office yesterday.

Illegal Police and FD and Corrections and Bogus Placard Parking
East 66th street at Third Avenue, Manhattan. Observed by Dick Tracy on Wed, Jun 10 2009
Continued illegal placard parking in a NO STANDING ANYTIME zone. This despite a letter from community board 8 to the 19th precinct dated May, 28, 2009 which reads as follows.
Dear Inspector Murtagh,
Community Board 8M has recently received a number of complaints from the public about vehicles displaying "NYPD-19" Precinct placards parking illegally at two small center islands located at either end of 66th street between Second and Third Avenues.
As you know, these islands are signed "No Standing Anytime" and it is illegal for any vehicles to park at curbs with this signage, even with a city issued placard.
We would appreciate if you would remind your officers of this fact.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Illegal Police and FD Placard Parking
Third Ave and east 66, Manhattan. Observed by Dick Tracy on Fri, May 29 2009
Placard parking is not permitted in NO STANDING ANYTIME zones. This blatant abuse has been going on for years and was reported to the local City Council Member Garodnick, the local Community Board #8, the local Precinct Commander of the 19th and to the Commander of Manhattan North as well as Margaret Forgione of the DOT.
The community board resolved weeks ago to write to the NYPD yet the situation remains. Both the commander of Manhattan North and the 19th are aware of the issue and are defiant in their uncivil behavior.
That large truck bore an FDNY placard and had out of state plates.

Expired NYPD permit? No problem. Just park and traffic agent got you covered.
180 Grand St. New York, NY, Manhattan. Observed by hungtat on Sat, May 02 2009
This Toyota Camry was parked on a Saturday during the time period restricted for commerical trucks. It had an expired NYPD parking permit with licence number partially covered by a NYPD PBA card, and the number did not match the license plate. I asked a traffic agent who skipped right through it why he did not ticket this car. He said in his own words "I have instruction" and that "the guy might be too busy to get the updated one." So now you know not to bother reporting to the city if you ever seen a car with the expired permit. Traffic agent does not care anyway and we as taxpayers will just have to pick up the tabs.
Un-"restricted" NYPD Parking - Part I
7002 Ridge Blvd, Brooklyn. Observed by Buttle on Tue, Apr 28 2009
I missed the permit number on this 4Runner's 70th Precinct placard because it was almost entirely concealed by the registration and inspection stickers. However the licence plate on the vehicle matched the placard. The Honda in front of it was also illegally parked, but I was about to miss my bus so I didn't check it out. If it's still there tonight I'll update if it was NYPD too.
UPDATE - Yup! The Honda is NYPD too!
2nd UPDATE. The 4Runner was back (and unsurprisingly parked illegally again) so I've added the permit #.
Frequent REGULAR ABUSER on Odell Street in Parkchester
1565 Odell Street, Bronx. Observed by parkchesterresident on Mon, Jan 05 2009
The said vehicle in the pictures regularly, on a daily basis, can be found illegally parked in the "NO STANDING ANYTIME" zone on Odell Street Circle adjacent to 1565/1575 Odell Street Parkchester units. This vehicle also blatantly blocks the sole fire hydrant at the end of the block directly across of 1565 Odell Street, for which it is in this picture, plus fouling the "NO STANDING ANYTIME" zone. There is also a "NO PARKING ANYTIME" zone on the south side of St. Raymond Avenue right at the intersection of Odell Street and St. Raymond Avenue where this vehicle can often also be found illegally parked. This vehicle is one of several who use the Odell Street circle as their own personal parking location. I have a disabled daughter who requires a wheelchair and get a wheelchair-lift school bus to pick her up for school, and on a number of occasions, we had to switch buses because the drivers of the buses refused to come down Odell Street because of all the illegal parking, and complaints to the NYPD and the 43rd Precinct seem to have fallen on deaf ears.
More NYPD being special...
Park Avenue and E. 188th Street, Bronx. Observed by Tattletale on Mon, Mar 23 2009
A long line of vehicles regularly park in the Park Ave. bike lane all along it's length through the Bronx. This is a representative example. Most of the cars display a variety of NYPD related permits- some expired, some simply display traffic vests placed on the dashboard etc. There is only space here for one so I posted the one with the EXPIRED permit. Some just have NYPD decals, some have other unofficial indicators of NYPD status conspicuously placed on the dash or in the window. This particular string of vehicles is parked along Park Ave. (note MTA North Tracks parallel) near the intersection of Park Ave. & E. 188th Street. This particular set of images was taken on Monday March 23 11:15 a.m.

Ovington and 3rd ave, Brooklyn. Observed by Buttle on Sat, Mar 07 2009
It's getting tough out there for abuser of parking placards! Now off-duty NYPD have to compete with other city agencies to find a nice convenient hydrant.
This car and the Prius in the next violation were parked together at the hydrant. Both had placards, of course... You can imagine my surprise.
Not sure if I got the placard number right (my photo turned out to be a bit blurry) but the license plate is correct and matches the placard.
