81st Precinct placard abuse
Ridge Blvd and Ovington, Brooklyn. Observed by Buttle on Tue, Mar 22 2011
This Mazda was parked here last night and still there late this morning. The car's plate matches the plate# written on the placard. This is a heavily frequented location for NYPD placard abuse over the years. They keep creeping back between crackdowns.
Disorder in the Dirty Five-Two
bainbridge and e 199th street, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Wed, Mar 09 2011
Remember how New York got crime under control? They applied the Broken Windows theory.
In 1990, William J. Bratton became head of the New York City Transit Police. Bratton described George L. Kelling as his "intellectual mentor", and implemented zero tolerance of fare-dodging. Police commissioner Howard Safir also adopted the strategy more widely in New York City in 1993, under the rubrics of "zero tolerance" and "quality of life".
What does the Broken Windows theory say?
If disorder goes unchecked, a vicious cycle begins. First, it kindles a fear of crime among residents, who respond by staying behind locked doors. Their involvement in the neighborhood declines; people begin to ignore rowdy and threatening behavior in public. They cease to exercise social regulation over little things like litter on the street, loitering strangers, or truant schoolchildren. When law-abiding eyes stop watching the streets, the social order breaks down and criminals move in.
And what does this have to do with the Dirty Five-Two?
THE COPS ARE THE ONES ACTUALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR MUCH OF THE DISORDER HERE. Instead of improving quality of life, they're cheating the law to give themselves special "privileges." Every time they do it, the undermine the moral authority of the law, and show that we may not be able to rely on all of our law enforcement officers to act honestly.
When they do this in broad daylight, it forces you to wonder what other dishonest things they're doing when they think nobody's looking.
And it all creates a culture of taking whatever you think you can get away with! The disorder is CAUSED by the Dirty Five-Two!

Demolition Derby in the Dirty Five-Two?
parkside pl and webster, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Sun, Jan 02 2011
The professionals at DOT determined it was dangerous to park here. It makes it hard for traffic coming down the hill to see and merge with traffic on Webster Avenue. That's why they made it illegal. "NO STANDING ANYTIME." Can't miss the bright red sign.
Dirty cops treat it like their reserved parking spot. The Dirty Five-Two lets them do it. Who cares if somebody gets in a wreck?
Why would they think they need to keep us safe, when they could have their own reserved parking spots instead?
The Five-Two Gives Dirty Cops Early Christmas Present - Residents Hope They Don't Burn to Death
parkside pl and e 207, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Fri, Dec 24 2010
The Dirty Five-Two lets dirty cops park in illegally and very dangerous locations every day of the year.
Why would Christmas Eve be any different?
See picture - one more dirty cop putting everybody's life at risk by blocking a fire hydrant for his own, personal convenience. Apparently he couldn't be bothered to walk two blocks from Webster, where there are ALWAYS available parking spaces.
Dirty Five-Two out for a joy ride
e 207th and perry avenue, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Dec 14 2010
These guys must have just taken the van out for a joy ride. They sure weren't doing any work.
Dawdling down the street, they were in no hurry to respond to anything. But they weren't about to get their butts out in the cold to write a ticket when the perp was another dirty cop.
There's no way they could possibly have missed the fact this car was parked way out into the crosswalk. Way WAY more than any civilian would have been allowed without getting hit with a summons (or two or three...)
They just won't take responsibility for writing a ticket to another cop because THEY DON'T HAVE THE GUTS to stand up to a dirty cop. So yet again, one more dirty cop gets a free pass from the Dirty Five-Two.
If they could just get their butts out of the car to DO THEIR JOB, maybe people in the neighborhood would think they were heroes. But it's just too obvious that some of these guys care more about their "perks" (that is to say breaking the law when they find it convenient) instead of keeping us safe, while the rest of them are just too lazy or too scared to stand up for what's right.
Shame on all of them!

The Dirty Five-Two Messing Up the Buses
e 206 and bainbridge, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Mon, Dec 06 2010
Obviously none of these guys take transit, so what do they care if their illegal parking messes up the bus staging area?
Dirty cop.
Parked illegally in a zone that prohibits standing anytime except for buses. (South side of E 206th Street between Rochambeau and Bainbridge - end of several bus lines.)
More dirty cops let him do it.
Because their actions show they prioritize their own personal convenience over running buses for everybody else.
Because their actions show they prioritize their own personal convenience over being honest.
Because their actions show they prioritize their own personal convenience over following the law they are paid to enforce.
11 Hours Later... still not ticketed
333 East 206th Street, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Mon, Nov 22 2010
Welcome to the Dirty Five-Two.
While everybody else gets ticketed if they turn around and blink, these guys leave their trucks parked wherever they want, for as long as they want.
The other dirty cops who work at the precinct drive by all day long without enforcing the law they pursue all too eagerly with everybody else.
(This vehicle was parked in the same spot, visible that it's illegal from blocks away, for over 11 hours without receiving a ticket.)

Yet One More Dirty Cop Frequenting the Dirty Five-Two
briggs and 201, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Wed, Nov 03 2010
We haven't seen this guy before. It's yet one more dirty cop frequenting the Dirty Five-Two. This corrupt precinct welcomes one and all of the dirty cops in the NYPD to come park illegally. No worries about somebody enforcing the law up here!
Parked in the crosswalk? Routine in the Dirty Five-Two.
Parked too close to the fire hydrant? Hey, what's the Dirty Five-Two care if yet another building burns to the ground? It's been over a year since the Halloween Fire took out half of Bainbridge Avenue.
Using a placard that wasn't even issued to the vehicle that's using it? You won't see the Dirty Five-Two do anything about it.
You see, if you want to break the law, all you have to do is advertise that it's your job to enforce the law. They have no shame - they have no problem at all showing everybody that they're the ones breaking the laws they're paid to enforce.
Unrepentant in the Dirty Five-Two
333 E 206th St, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Mon, Oct 25 2010
Here's another vehicle parked illegally in the NO PARKING ANYTIME zone outside St. Brendan's.
It's a repeat offender:
http://nyc.uncivilservants.org/post/index/14625
It's parked in the exact same spot, at the same time it was previously observed breaking the law. And yet, the Dirty Five-Two can't seem to enforce the law?
Apparently they have not yet given up their evil ways! Will they ever see the light (before they're shown the door)?
