Fire Hydrant on 92nd St. Bay Ridge, Brooklyn
92nd St and Shore Rd, Brooklyn. Observed by jasondean on Sun, Apr 18 2010
Is this a real permit? If so, why is he hiding the expiration date at the bottom? Why does he have a new car dealer sticker? Why is it a New Jersey license plate with a City of New York permit? This guy must have a lot of time on his hands to be a cop and sell new cars.
Maybe they'll start ticketing each other..?

NYPD and the Feds are in hot contention for those illegal parking spots. Here's a fed in the same spot as 2 NYPD yesterday. Keep in mind, this is residential, not outside a stationhouse or government building.

This is location where a woman was struck down by auto Christmas Eve, 2006. The neighborhood has lost at least 3 young people over the next 2 years due to traffic related issues (illegal parking and unenforced speeding)

Way to go NYPD!
Bud - you don't like it - call the President
53rd Street and Avenue of the Americas, Manhattan. Observed by hiyall on Wed, Dec 03 2008
I have to get my family to view the lighting of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center!
On one of the busiest, most congested nights of the year, this vehicle comes blasting up Avenue of the Americas with lights flashing and weaving through traffic. It turns west on 53rd street and pulls over at a No Standing Anytime zone and parks. The driver (black male) puts an official business placard on the dash and exits the car with 3 black females (1 adult and 2 children). They then walk off in the direction of the Rockefeller Center where the Official Christmas tree lighting ceremony was being held.
This vehicle continued to cause many traffic issues for both pedestrians and other vehicles for the next hour that I was at the location, while waiting for my ride home.
This is arrogant abuse of authority for very selfish self serving reasons. It shows the utter disdain that this individual has no concern at all for the safety or convenience of others. In my opinion, this individual should not be allowed anywhere near power or authority. The behavior exhibited tonight was reckless and endangered others both for the driving with lights on and weaving in and out of traffic, followed by leaving the vehicle behind and endangering all who then had to navigate past it.

Endangers all who have to navigate past this off duty cop - too cheap to pay for legal parking across the street
Next to school, between merging streets and near 2 malls.
I guess this guy doesn't like bus riders
184 Avenue A, Manhattan. Observed by lawandorder on Tue, Sep 09 2008
Pretty common site. This driver has moved from parking in front of hydrants and in no parking zones, to parking in the bus stop across the street. This fraudster has now affixed several pins to his fake federal law enforcement placard -- how cute.
The geniuses at 311 marked down my complaint as an "illegal bus layover". Of course, the 9th precinct said they didn't find anything in violation, without even bothering to leave the precinct house.

Car with "On official business" parked illegaly at curb
41st street ad newtown, Queens. Observed by Hamster on Mon, May 12 2008
This corner spot is illegal because it crosses the building line to the corner. People always get a ticket for this violation. Today is Monday 5-12-08 and this car has been parked here since at least Friday 5-9-08. It is a student car with school sticker on back windshield and student parking sticker on front windshield. Must be a cop's kid using the placard for their own use.
Federal Police in the Crosswalk each Week
Bridge St and Whitehall St, Manhattan. Observed by downtowner on Tue, Mar 25 2008
This car shows up at least 3 times a week in the same place--in the crosswalk. This is a very busy crosswalk used by most of SI Ferry commuters on their way to the 4/5.
Appears that the placard is not legal (judging by the list of legal permits on this site). At a minimum, the car is illegally blocking the crosswalk.
This is within the Blue Zone at the corner of Bridge and Whitehall Streets.
Fake permit, again..

Update:
8 minutes after the 311 ticket was filed, the 9th precint closed ticket with this message, "The Police Department responded and upon arrival those responsible for the condition were gone."
In other words, they didn't even leave the precinct building.

update: 9th Precinct again closed the 311 ticket falsely, less than an hour later, stating: "The Police Department responded to the complaint and with the information available observed no evidence of the violation at that time."
