However, I think we will shortly take this post down, for two reasons: (1) we need the sign in the picture, or we can't follow up, and (2) there's a license plate number visible on the first picture.

*NEWS FLASH*
I know the area quite well especially since I frequented the hospital during my father's cancer fight in 2006.
The signs are not official at all. They were put up by the hospital in an attempt to secure parking for their people. Similar signs are put up in front of my building by the superintendant. The signs in front of my building are not real and yet they read "No Parking Hotel Loading". The Signs near Mount Sinai are not even official looking becasue I suspect that the city would have a legal issue with this. The meters on the block are fully working and city run. My guess is that the signs were put up in order to discourage people from parking in an area that the hospital had designated as an unloading area for it's ambulettes. How greedy of them.
The end result is that this is not a violation. For 6 months out of the yr of 2006 I parked there and was assured by a cop that it was ok.
This picture should come down immediately becasue it has no validity.

While I do think the poster should put up a photo if the actual sign it is often impossible to show teh sign andteh vehicle in teh same photo without making one or the other too small to see. In this case it looks like the sign is next to the car.
#9 -- it's going to stay up for a bit because I want to give the original poster a chance to respond. Your post (if true) is also quite informative, if I take it down now, people won't see it. (We need a "under review" flag, but we don't have one, sorry.)
#10 -- the first picture should show the whole scene -- the second and third pictures can provide detail.

Salgoud, even that wont work in alot of cases when the sign is at the end of the block. I get your point but situations are not always picture perfect.

This really is a lousy post. I don;t know if the poster is talking about what is going on in front of the meters and what that sign post has on it. I think a poster has to be available to respond and should wither post a better picture and a better explaination or delete the post.

Plenty of trick meters in Times Square that aren't any good during the day.
Big money tourist towing. HAHA Welcome to NY

Notice the garbage bag seat on the bike. One of the tricks you have to resort to so you can keep it.

But then again, No Standing anytime? Meters wouldn't be good ever. Pants of fire or mistake?

Is it possible that they were on official business at the hospital?

#14: indeed. Now will someone please go take a picture of said sign?
