Not surprised by anything from the 19th precinct and by the way the 19th is on east 68th street nit in alphabet city. Cut the nonsense and SEZ's are a total fiction manufacture by and for self-serving cops who feel they are above the law.
i know someone who's a cop and that he might be assigned to another precinct other than his once in a while for various assignments. thus it is legitimate to use the placard from his own precinct and park at another precinct.
if you see a car with placard parked right by a movie theater when nothing's going on then i would suspect something's up.
@hungtat, I grant you that what you described may the be the case in some instances, but using a restricted placard for an NYPD facility different than the one printed is illegal. The DOT regulations are very clear on this. The fact that the license plates don't match make it even more illegal.
In any case, it's an SEZ people! We have cops going out of their precincts for assignments! get over it! if you think it's such a hassel, call your local reps when sh*t hits the fan and G*D forbid something happens to you or your family. Cause the cops wil be late. They're out looking for legal parking or putting money into the meter!!!
That is a SEZ. As usual Dick or Lawandorder have no clue on what they are talking about. They can park at any precinct. The license plate doesn't have to match. Ever here of having 2 cars.
@ lawandorder, i understand what you mean. the cop i know uses a different car with a different plate number of course when working out in a different precinct other than his own. i know he's a good cop but i guess it's too much trouble nowaday asking for a placard for each car you own while on the job.
@mvodohmh: Yes, it looks similar because it's the same car parked in the same spot, and they're both at night. This driver is usually parked there when I go down 4th Street.
Again, DOT regulations specifically require that NYPD Restricted placards match the NYPD facility the driver is parking at. And of course the license plates must match.
Additionally, for those who are geographically-challenged, this is not in the 9th Precinct's Self-Enforcement Zone, and not even in a valid space purportedly covered by an SEZ.
Who cares if the plate matches, thats why they HAVE A PLACARD. If I take my 88 y/o grandfather out in my car w/ friends & family instead of him driving himself w/ his handicap permit you don't expect me to go to the DMV to change plates. Stop being so jealous of other peoples small & tiny perks. PATHETIC. You're allowed to have more than 1 car ever heard of a winter beater.
Law I love my 1993 Ford Tempo and my lack of tickets and cutting off bicyclists who do the same to me but don't stop for the red lights as well as honking my horn so obniouxsly that it deafens the pedestrians who jaywalk by even one second. New York is meant for CARS. GET OVER IT or go live in Long Island / Westchester, suburbs are meant for grass and parks not Manhattan. You're probably some idiot who moved to New York from California.
If the plates don't match LAW, How come no tickets? If that was the case then there would be tickets. Oh wait that's called discretion. DUH. 2 cars 1 placard guess what goes in both cars. Have a nice day.
@jetssuck: man, do you have things totally backwards! Cities are for cars? Huh? Who said anything about wanting grass? I want jackasses like this to stop trying to turn NYC into Long Island/Westchester and the like. Functional, healthy cities are not saturated by cars... that's for things like the suburbs.

It's called a SEZ. How many times do you have to be told? As usual you have no idea what you are talking about.

Yes it is in a SEZ. Just because you say it isn't doesn't mean that it's not.

SEZ = discretion of the summonsing officer, DOT rules or not. Sorry L&O the argument will never go further than that.

@jetssuck57: Haha, no, I'm most certainly not jealous of your (mostly illegal) perks. And yes, the plates must match. Duh.
