Hey IAB, Get on This!

Observed by bratton on Wed, Apr 11 2007

Man, you can buy those cute little dash lights on www.galls.com for $40.
That's one of the most ridiculous attempts at impersonating a police officer I've seen, and somehow it passes muster???

That's a bunch of muni-meter money going the way of the dodo, too.

He's assigned to the Gov's office on 3rd and 40th. That's probably a real permit. Best the gov's office can do.

And the light's not illegal if it doesn't work.

Don't know about the permit though, it does say police.

The permit is legit. The NYS Troopers have a satellite office in this area.
Sorry to burst your bubble but their is no violation here. It is within their SEZ and the permit is real.
Permit envy is really rampant on this site.

It's not illegal to have a red light if it doesn't light. And I've seen those permits before. They come from an area where you don't have a million forgers trying to get over so a simple "Police" seems to work

As far as the Hassidic community, they don't feel thay have to obey the law, so thaey all become Hatzolah memebers and abuse the permit. (Maybe the light too, but I have no info on that)

There's a reason they call the 66th "Ft Surrender"

As far as this one, the poster was wrong, but still a nice try.

I grew up in the 66 Pct and was an auxillary police officer for many years. Yes, the Hasidic community has an abundance of red lights in their windshield and pretty much run the precinct they way they see fit. There are "politically" connected Rabbi's as well in the community that carry weapons (sometimes two) for no other reason other than they can. Double parking, parking in bus stops, in front of fire hydrants, blowing through traffic lights, speeding... some of the craziest drivers you've ever seen. A precinct with two sets of rules -- which is no fault of the NYPD who are assigned there..

I not only fault the NYPD, but I see that if you try to point out the lawlessness of the hassids, you are picking on the Jews. We had one come on our radio channel and tell us we can't touch him, "he's one of the Jews" when we told him to take a hike.

My stepfather had a number on his arm from Auschwitz, but that doesn't stop me from pointing out what's wrong is wrong, no matter who. You expect me to obey the law and I do, so I expect the same.

We're looking for a topic for a documentary. Maybe the 66 is a good place to look.

#9: Of course but we're not assigning blame until we examine. Plus we have to start somewhere. We are aware of the the corrupt practices of the last gov and beyond.

#10: The Fed permits I've seen are just like NYPD unrestricted. Are you talking about the Xerox of the Post Office?

Now we are comparing station houses and community groups, I thought this was about illegal parking?
