Parking infront of Church

Observed by folt4 on Tue, Apr 17 2007

He tells the church that he is a judge and that if they complain and he gets another ticket no one will park there! He parks in the pastor's spot all the time. The church is the Oldest Baptist Church In Manhattan and he doesn't care for clergy.

If there's a no parking sign what gives the pastor the legal authority to park there??????? Is he above the law???

Since when does the DOT issue private parking spaces to pastors? Talk about special treatment!

I'm a bit confused about this one as well. How is this the "pastor's spot"? The apparently valid permit does, in fact, allow this guy to park in a simple "no parking" area. If the pastor has a DOT clergy permit, he can park there too, but it's strictly first come, first served.

So why does he get tickets if he's so legal? And why is he saying he's a judge when he's the clerk? And why is he making threats?

The pastor can't park but the guy threatens that no one will park? Sounds like he'd be the loser on that one.

Salguod,
Even with a valid permit, it's 3 hours max.

Where do you guys come off stating stuff you know nothing about? This clergyman has full reign over the spot in front of his church. There is no 3 hour rule in effect from our vantage point. Am I going to camp out in front of his car for 3 hours and watch to see if he moved it? No. Am I going to mark his tire with a yellow crayon and then check in 3 hours to see if he moved it? No. Your know nothing of what you speak of and I can assure you that he will not move and he is not expected to move. He is a clergyman for god sakes. We give him the courtesy to preach the lords word without worrying about his car. The least you can do is do the same and stop worrying about if this man of god has moved his car within 3 hours. I suspect that most of the complainers here bombard the 311 with nonsense like this and when the job is assigned to me, I just ignore it.
My god, you guys are extremely petty.

The three hour rule really is just in name only. It's virtually unenforcable, and I for one would not want the police to waste their time worrying whether a person who's apparently using his parking permit legally is in fact in violation of the three hour rule.

Why complain about a pastor who is doing his the lord's work. He is parked at a no parking spot in front of his church. The city designated these areas no parking so as the pastors could park there with a permit. This pastor has a permit so why cry about his vehicle being parked there. Are you one of the whiny congregation that believes that the pastor has no right to park here? I really hope that the lord denies you entry into heaven over this. I really do hope he does.

The space was desinated at NO PARKING by the community board so that the church good have the pastor park infront and for funerals so will the cars parked infront by the time the pastor or other clergy there is no chance for them to get parking until 5pm.

#8: There's separation of church and state.

Also we get on Hatzolah's case and Shomrim, same thing, different religion.

However, this is in front of a church and not in the garment district. If the community board put that sign for funerals, the Land Rover should be investigated for making threats and impersonation.

This person who is parking and feels the need to threaten others realizes that they are in the wrong. I live in this community parking is extremely difficult more than in other communities because of the police percents and extra 911 security in our community. However, this person needs to have someone take a picture of his plates car, permits, etc and record him making any and all of his threats. Send this to various locations such as fox 5, and put HIS BUTT (excuse me lord) on blast. NO ONE should abuse any permit.
