This little whore of a hydrant gives it up for anyone with an NYPD placard. Looks like my best friends--the silver Infiniti and purple Scion--were in the mood for a double-team today. I really don't think these are cops who are doing this... maybe people affiliated with the department in some way, but there are no permit numbers on the permits. Reported to 311 and DOT.

Jeez... you guys are pretty tough on me. I'm certainly not attacking you or anyone else. Just pointing out some cars (likely not even owned by police officers) parked at a hydrant, day after day.
Anyway, I think the call to DOT made a difference; both cars were gone a few hours after the call and the hydrant's still entirely clear today, which I haven't seen for months.

Great Job bk!!! It seems though that both cars may just be affiliated with some department because they both moved their cars. Did they even get ticketed? You know, I've heard that even though a TEA may ticket a car with a placard that the "officer" doesn't even have to pay the ticket and that if they go before the judge, the judge will even dismiss it!!! Incredible!!
Hope that hydrant stays clear!! Will be closer to the victory and the goal that we're looking forward to!

I see my parking deviance is catching on. Long live the movement!
Hail, hail the hydrant blockers of nyc.

I just love when people come up to me at work and telling me to summons that car with the placard on the dash.

I think the call to DOT made a difference. It's going on the third day and the hydrant is still clear. I don't think it's a coincidence because there hasn't been a day prior to these during which the hydrant wasn't blocked by one of these vehicles.

BK, why do you find it necessary to lie. In the long run you are hurting our cause in order to save face. I passed that spot this morning at 9am and the hydrant was indeed blocked by a different car and that ugly purple car. An interesting side note is that I too called DOT and I was referred to the local precinct or 311 for results. I was told that DOT does not dispatch response cars to such violations and that it was the police's job to respond to blocked hydrants or blocked driveways. BK, do not resort to fibbing in order to get our point across. Eventually the powers that be will get sick of us pointing out these hydrant violations and something will eventually be done. If we do an about face now and claim that their is no infraction the problem will never be addressed.

Imagine if your child was in an apartment building when their was a fire and some jerk slowed down the fire department by blocking the pump. I don't think that you would be so willing to look the other way.

dear concerned citizen........
had that ever happened yet? i don't think so.

This jerk was there this evening as well. I am beginning to hate the color purple.

Lol, #16 and #21. Interesting way to lie, but it's obvious that no proponent of this site would publicly dispute my claims. The hydrant's still vacant. I'd be posting pics if it wasn't. Please, read on.
Look guys, I'm not running around the city searching for cars to take pics of, and I'm not here to fight. I'm not by any means on a mission to go after NYPD or FDNY--I've maintained throughout all of my posts that I think they are brave and do a good job in this huge city. Furthermore, I've repeatedly stated that the city is to blame issue of SEZs and not designating enough parking specifically for civil servants. These two cars happen to have NYPD cards in their windshields (and I really do think they're fake). I believe there are very few legitimate officers who would park this way.
I do agree that my posting of these two vehicles parked at the hydrant might seem a bit incessant, but this is just a glaring issue at this hydrant that I pass each day. God forbid there's a fire emergency and FDNY can't access this hydrant. I know chances are slim, but the consequences could be severe if something were to happen.
I don't think that my expectations are outrageous. I agree that there are many posters on this site who go after every vehicle they see for the most petty infractions. There are also a lot of nuts on the other side. I'm not a liberal, I'm not a conservative. I examine each issue as it comes up. There are many moderates on this site from both sides (including petergriffin, Salguod, effective_streets, etc.). I think that these people will be most influential in helping reach a compromise. The extremeists on both sides only hurt their own causes.

BK, the time is 1230pm and he silver car is there on the hydrant. If I could I would supply the pictures on this reply but this option does not exist on this site. You might have scare the evil purple Scion away but there is a new abuser in town and that hydrant is a victim yet again.

"Look guys, I'm not running around the city searching for cars to take pics of, and I'm not here to fight. I'm not by any means on a mission to go after NYPD or FDNY"
BK, then let me ask you this, do you put this much effort into photographing drug dealers and other criminals at work? I didn't think so. It's obvious you have an agenda.
Go on now, delete this post for making a valid point and calling out an obvious lie.

B52, if I did see "drug dealers and other criminals at work", I would certainly report it, and then the police would likely take care of it. Any time I've witnessed a crime in progress, I've reported it. I've lived in BK all my life, and I've seen several crimes in progress. I attended public high school in Flatbush. I have absolutely no agenda here. If I saw dealers were slingin on my block, or in front of my building, I'd report it in a second (and take a photo of it if I was able to).
#23--actually, you'd really be helping if you took a photo of the cars the next time you saw them at the hydrant and posted them as a new post. Thanks for checkin out the spot though.

Well, it's been over 2 weeks now and I haven't seen these parked at this hydrant... although I did see the Infiniti at a hydrant down the block once. DOT is definitely the place to go with this type of complaint.

So wanting to see the law enforced upon everyone who is obligated to follow it is an agenda now? Or are we just dodging the issue? The latter? Really? Awesome, I must be psychic. And #20, people have gotten hurt because the fdny cant get to a hydrant HUNDREDS of times in this city. There are even videos online of both taxpayers AND law enforcement officials being asked why they are parked in front of a hydrant while a fire is blazing away sometimes not fifteen feet away
