Jerry Seinfeld is the master of the parking domain!
The NYPD is investigating the sitcom star after his driver apparently tried to "yada yada" parking by using an expired police parking placard to cruise into a spot right in front of the studios for his new show "The Marriage Ref."
The driver pulled a Kramer-like move when he put the placard in the window of the funnyman’s car after pulling up to the studios Wednesday at West 57th Street between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, Seinfeld’s reps said.
The driver – who was identified by sources as retired narcotics officer, Sgt. Timothy Gallagher – then helped Seinfeld inside, where he worked on the new show, which appears on NBC.
A TV reporter spotted the ID in the window and asked Mayor Bloomberg about why Seinfeld was parking with a police placard.
The mayor was stumped.
"I have absolutely no idea," he said, during his press conference yesterday.
NYPD big wigs leaped into action after being shown a picture of the placard. They determined it belonged to a Bronx narcotics officer, who sources said is not Gallagher, but a female detective who still works for the NYPD.
The placard should have been turned in when it expired in 2007. When it was active, it only allowed parking near the Bronx narcotics bureau office.
The female detective told investigators said she didn’t know anything about it — and the only thing she knew about Seinfeld was from watching him on TV, sources said.
Improperly using a placard is an administrative code violation, and could result in a small fine.
The comedian’s rep said he has not been interviewed by cops.
"Jerry has no knowledge about this placard, nor was he aware it was being used," said Elizabeth Clark Zoia. "Now that it has been brought to our attention, it will not be used again."
She also said that Seinfeld is not angry at the driver.
"Jerry feels that his drvier was going out of his way to help him and will not" be fired, she said.

This website is funny. I've gone through every page and read most of the comments (not an easy or quick thing) and have concluded that the people on here are just whining about privileges they don't have. They also seem to get angry at people who have "expensive" cars.
Is this a website designed to continue the struggle between the "have's" and the "have not's"? I mean, really... Jerry Seinfeld isn't thinking about you.
If you really want to put your resources to good use, take pictures of all the vehicles parked on city streets with expired inspection stickers and/or registrations, missing plates, etc. These people are criminals and tend to owe the city a lot of money. Also, these people tend to be connected to other, more serious crimes. Why go after parking permits in this way. The city knows who the permit holders are and where to find them.
You're wasting your time with this.

@CogitoBabe: You may have gone through most of the posts here, but from your statements it sounds like you haven't actually read the pages that explain this campaign, the reason behind it and its methods. Please take a moment to review them.
This campaign is about reducing the use and abuse of parking placards by government employees. Unnecessary/illegal use of these placards not only generates car traffic because they enable free parking for commuters, but it also erodes the public trust of civil servants (particularly the NYPD, who are not only the ones in charge of enforcing parking laws, but are frequently the top violators of them, as studies show). Finally, the over-use and abuse of placards is a contributor to a "windshield" point view in City and State officials, a cognitive frame that is undesirable in a city that overwhelmingly walks, bikes and takes transit much more than drives cars.
I'm sure many of us who post here would also be in favor of cracking down on drivers who use expired inspection stickers, registrations and missing plates. Such a campaign need not exclude a campaign to end placard abuse, and so you are free to start your own campaign, and website to do so. As you might have seen (but left out of your comments), some placard abusers have also engaged in criminal conduct, some of which has been revealed once the placard violation was noticed. I'm sure there's a lot more criminal activity perpetrated by placard abusers that we haven't heard about yet.
And as for your comment that "the city knows who the permit holders are and where to find them", well, you are partly correct and partly incorrect. Yes, for valid placards, the City does know where to find them, but 1) NYPD fails on a massive scale to enforce the laws related to placards, clinging to notions of "courtesy", which is really a code-word for "corruption and conspiracy", 2) many TE Agents (and cops and other civil servants) either don't know the law when it comes to placards, or are actually intimdated and threatend if they try to do enforce the law (and have been fired!). Finally, the City actually DOESN'T know of all the placards out there... there are thousands of bogus (i.e. union), fraudulent and expired placards out there.
So rather than belittle or ignore the problem, I encourage you to get involved in this campaign. Or if you want to start your own regarding expired registrations and car insurance fraud, etc, go for it!

Cogitobabe: You are mostly right about this web site. Most of the complainers here are jealous they can't do what I and everyone else with a placard can do. The one that started this web site doesn't even drive. I don't agree with blocking fire hydrants. I have stated that in the past. I have no problem parking in no standing zones and no parking zones. I have many times been thanked by people looking for parking spots that I let go by and parked where they can't park. The posters on this web site like to make you think that everyone hates placard parking. The truth is 99% of the people in the city and other boroughs don't mind the placard use. It is only a chosen few that don't like them, and the ones that do complain don't drive. People on this web site have even posted pictures of Police cars parked in No Parking or No Standing zones. That there is truly a waste of time. Lawandorder always responds to people questioning this web site "If you don't agree with this start your own web site". If you have noticed the posting are way down since this web site started. That is because nothing is changing. This is a losing battle for them. Nothing is going to change. Even if they take all the placard away, they will just go back to what they did years ago.
