cops and other city workers should be able to park where they want as long as they don't cause a serious safty hazard. Its the least you (the public) can do.

Simply put the city pays its workers unfairly...when compaired to the rest of the METRO area. IT is only fair then, that when cops are paid 20000 below market rate to live in the most expensive city in this country and have the hardest policing job in that country...that the public can cut them some slack when they park in that no standing zone. 3 years without a contract and counting...

Remember its the cops that cut murder rates down to under 500 a year, and made your brownstones in park slope worth millions. DO YOU Remember under mayor dinkins when there were 4000 murders a year...guess what... thats more murders in one year then total american solders killed in iraq ever.

You should thank the police not complain over parking privlages, look at it as a 20000 dollar benefit, not breaking the law.

Still illegal, union is a private group and has no auth to designate parking privledges. In some cases this is called fraud.

That's 2000 murders a year and it stopped when the next generation saw what it did to their brothers and sisters and turned away from it (crack). The cops had very little to do with it as did Giuliani despite his claims.

"The cops had very little to do with it as did Giuliani despite his claims."

What planet do you live on???? It was because Guiliani, the police commissioner, and the rank and file officers, sgts. etc. that enabled the city to turn around.....
Do you really think the crack addicts' families are solely responsible for the drop in crime??!?!?!?!?

You REALLY need to wake up and appreciate what the hard working members of ALL the law enforcement agencies did to clean up this city......your statement is SO STUPID, it is actually frightening to think you can actually think this way.......

Let's get you city govt guys another perk. How about free massages or lunch or college tuition for your kids. If your perks degrade the city that you're supposed to serve, then you're not worth keeping around. Go work in Cleveland where there's plenty of available parking and lots of law enforcement challenges too.

#4: You should come and do a ride around with me. Hide your shield and let's look at it from the civillian point of view. I've thrown down that challenge to guys like you but they never seem to want to taste the medicine as it's dispensed.

The broken windows theory went out the window so to speak one night at 3 AM on a bridge between the S BX and Wash Hts as we took in the scene of a car jacking with a crash, where the cops shot the perp and the vic.

I wrote from expierience, not from living on another planet, even cops are not immune to the propaganda...

Most Court Officers I know only park in "Trucks Loading Or Unloading" spots when they can. They won't park in crosswalks or at hydrants. I know that's been a problem in the past. Does that make it ok: no. However, everyone gets perks their workplace. We just happen to enforce the laws in the city/state which makes that OUR workplace. It makes me laugh how some people say everyone should be treated equal when it comes to enforcing the law. Maybe when I go to work tomorrow I'll put myself through the magnetometer at the courthouse just to be fair. Then I'll check myself to see if I have any weapons. Oh wait, I need to have a weapon to protect all the civilians that come to court each day. The same civilians that waste valuable time posting, or should I say tattling on, law enforcement personnel and their vehicles. Funny how after 911 it was so trendy to wear FDNY & NYPD logos on everything from hats to coffee cups but now "Off with their Heads!" There is something that people just don't understand. We belong to a brotherhood. All colors, races, sexes, religions; it doesn't matter. Federal, State and City. It's called Civil Service. We are serving society at minimal pay. We will never be rich. We will never be famous. We don't get bonuses or dress down Fridays. We risk our safety helping people we don't even know because it is our job. So go ahead and take your pics. One day you'll need help and I hope the Responding Officer is late because he/she was looking for parking.
