How to Block the Sidewalk

Observed by BicyclesOnly on Mon, May 07 2007

These guys at the 23rd can show you how its done . . . you need two cars parked in tandem to really get full coverage and be sure that every pedestrian must enter the street.

Do we actually expect the police to enforce any of this? Do we actually expect the police to do their job? Do we actually expect the police to follow the law? Do we actually expect the police to do work they don't have to or want to do?

NO!

This is why nothing will get done ever. The police do not want to do the job they signed up for or adhere by the laws they were sworn to uphold. They don't want to do anything if they could. However, people do call 9/11 and then the police get to show up and take notes because they have to look as though they are doing something.

If you want a job where you only have to do your job when you feel like it, sign up to be a cop.

I have been there recently and I can attest to that being the C.Os and the X.Os personal cars. They are parked in the driveway of the precinct hence the curb cut out. Why don't you be a man and walk into the precinct and demand to know from them why they are making you walk around their cars. Do not be surprised if you are launched out the door by your large ears.
What whiny complainers.

#4, you answered your own question. One problem is the reputation cops have for insults and violence, which comments on this site do nothing to dispel. The other problem, and the more fundamental one, is that no matter how many fights I have with individual cops, it will not change this corrupt system. That's why this site is here. It's not going away. Deal with it. And by the way, the supervising officers should know better than to block the sidewalk this way.

Dear Mr.Steve:
Next time you feel like taking a picture of our garbage zone/Captains parking area, please look up and smile. Most precincts are rigged with servailance cameras and 2 of them just happened to catch your foolish face. Upon reviewing the precinct video tapes I saw your Caucasian behind waddling up and down the street in a suspicious manner trying to look for the perfect vantage point. In the one video I can see your face clearly. Might I recommend that next time you take pictures that your refrain from using a flash during daytime shots. It is totally unnecessary and it just kills the battery. Yes we can clearly see you snapping away on the video.
I will be blowing up you face and posting it around the precinct just so we can keep an eye out for your sneaky type of behavior. Do not be surprised if a cop walks up to you and says 'Hello Steve".

Dear Frank, you state that we do not do our jobs and that we do not want the job we signed up for. #1:If you want to check and see if we are doing our jobs check the FBIs crime statistics or go on the NYPDs website and bring up the compstat numbers to see just as much crime has come down.#2 Enforcing parking regulations IS part of our job but it is a very small one, perhaps you've seen the dopey looking "cops" in light blue uniforms with white hats, that is thier job!!! If we took the time to stop and enforce every parking violation we observed we would never have time to answer "real" jobs like robberies, assaults, burglaries emotionally disturbed persons (EDPS) etc... I can hear myself now "CENTRAL SHOW US RESPONDING TO SIGNAL 30 (Robbery in progress for you civilian types) WITH A DELAY, THERE ARE SEVERAL ILLEGALLY PARKED VEHICLES I HAVE TO TICKET FIRST!!!" #3 We only do the work we want to? You sound like all the streetcorner and community lawyers and advocates who show up at every job and have something to say, and almost never is it right! Example: I have a woman walk into the stationhouse who states she is a law student and she knows what she is talking about and wants to make out a report for aggrevated assualt, when I ask what happened she states her neighbor makes noise night and day and she can't take it anymore, when I tell he that she has not described Assault or any other crime to me, she begins dialing her phone threatening to call the NYPD president(?), I wished her luck and gently removed her from the pct. She would certainly agree with you that we do not do our job. If we only do the work we want to why would any of us do any work at all? Belive me we have bosses both big and small as well as civilians who show up at community council meetings who shout out our name and rank, "Officer such and such, took a report for blah blah blah, what is being done about this and that?" If I didn't do my job, which I signed up for and want to do, I'd find myself in a world of trouble. The kind of jobs people get the idea that we just come and take some notes are Frankly BS jobs, a BS job is a waste of time for us and is no benefit for you. Example a car almost, ALMOST hit you, you had an argument with that driver he or she leaves and then you wait 1/2 hr to call the police, when we get there you are annoyed and disgusted that there is nothing we can do. You go home and tell all the Serpico familly members and friends we are lazy and don't want to do any work. Well what did you want us to do, call out aviation, harbour and ESU to canvass the area for your "dangerous" driver who left the scene over 30 mins ago? Don't forget no crime here, no injuries, but you are annoyed that we cant do anything. Belive me if something bad is happening to you (and I don't mean your latte is too hot) and the police are called my partner and I are coming in a hurry, don't forget risking life and limb in a radio car (most cops are killed in car accidents), to do what we can to help!! Think about that next time you bash the police.

bkylncop, your whole take on the SEZ is bull. There's no reason for these personally-owned vehicles to be parked here but pure laziness and disrepsect for the community. There were about 20 other spots these cars could have been parked that are clearly visible in the picture. They were parked here to minimize the walk from car to desk, and you know it. In order to faciliate that shorter walk, anyone who walked down this stretch was detoured out into the street. Sure, SEZ means no repercussions (for now), but it doesn't mean this is safe or respectful parking.

They are dept vehicles... in front of a pct. THAT S A SEZ... read the rules... and are we to beleive that a C.O and a X.O are to park where they can find a spot? these two get a peronal spot. In front of a pct, usually combat parked.

I am not a "placard holder" I am going to park my car in the middle of the street tonight when I get home from work with a sign that says something to you about your site, see if you can take a pic of it and post it here.

BRING BACK POST #35!!!!!!!!!!

anonymous

It would be legal if they parked at the curb as it's their curb cut and as the police they know that. Just disrepectful.

Wonder what they would say if you had to step into the street and got hit by a bike? Looks like a nice spot for a wheelchair accident.

Notice how he took the time to park facing out but couldn't find the time to park at the curb. My guess is these cars will have Nassau license plate frames and an owner who doesn't care to have his nice car in the street.

Nice row of cars on the sidewalk in the rear.

I think that #9 merits some sort of investigation as what he is suggesting is clearly illegal. His post here has nothing to do with the dept and his use of tapes and threats are his own.

Dear Steve:

Now that we have a great photo of your face we will make sure to circulate it among the other precincts. You pose a serious threat to the security of the city especially since you have been captured on film snapping pictures of precinct facilities. I wonder if these pictures will fall into terrorist hands. Perhaps you are exchanging these pictures with sleeper cells for exchange of a promise that they wont attack the Rambles/Bridal Path. None the less, if there is a precinct attack in the near future we already have a suspect's face to concentrate on which was captured by our precinct's surveillance cameras.

P.s....It is not illegal to circulate pictures of people who have been caught by our surveillance cameras acting in a suspicious manner. Need I remind the street lawyers that this individual came to our facility and we did not go to him, hence his image will be added to a master data base which contains faces of people who present a possible danger.

Lets face it......Steve has become famous in the worst way.

WOW!
A mugshot of Steve was circulated last night during roll call. You could plainly see the face of a white male using flash photography to take pictures of a police facility. Although your name is not used Steve I know it is you because it matches the scenery of the picture you posted above. Funny how you the photographer was being photographed himself. Not a good idea since yesterday a bunch of terrorists were caught planning to attack Fort Dix. They used the same tactics that Steve used when surveilling the army base. Could it be that Steve is in cahoots with these terrorists? I think not but none the less Steve is now on the radar of the NYPD and possibly the FBI. His actions have been deemed a threat by those at One Police Plaza and it was they who faxed this APB on Steve to all the precincts. Steve picked the wrong day to captured on a precinct surveillance camera.
In this day and age where people are putting hits on cops and tracing where they live via their car plates(check today's NYPOST) it is nice to know that certain people(Steve & the owner of this site) will be held accountable for any attacks or harm that befall a police facility and it's personnel.

Steve, hate to break it to you but you are now officially wanted for questioning.

The NYPD will never treat the citizens of this city with equality under the law because they themselves are the biggest criminals out there.

Do your job 24/7/365! What is so hard about that. #26 proves my point. He admit he only works when he feels like it!

Oh and I'd gladly pay more taxes if I actually saw the NYPD working instead of jerking off, which is what they do 23.5 hours of the day.

Now go do your job, and park like a civilized human being instead of a farm animal.

Frank, I am glad that my lack of work angers you so. Let me correct you by stating that out of the 8 hours I am suppose to be working I only really work 40 minutes. The other 7:20 hours I just read my paper and watch the girls walk on by. My day involves lots of day dreaming and solitaire. On a good day I might work a full hour but thats on my heaviest day. I cant stress enough how I deserve a raise and probably will get one after PERB is said and done. 85K a year isn't bad for doing squat?
Thanks for caring Frank and have a nice day.

Farm animals and all are innocent in this. If I were to do my job 24/7/365 2 things would happen, I would lose my family and I would end up with CTS with all the typing I do, not to mention a bump on my head from falling asleep at my desh in my cubicle. I am going to take that test, can anyone tell me when it is?

Oh and to all of the LE community that is talking about these mugshots of people could you do me a favor? Post them on the poles outside of each precinct so us non LE people can see who they are too? Remember IP's are logged here so FOIL allows the NYPD to get all of the info of who is posting here.

anonymous

Posted on Wed, May 09 2007 at 10:34 PM

Sorry CarneA, these mugshots are in house photos that were captured on an NYPD surveillance cameraand as a result are not to be shared with the general public because the individual on the poster is not wanted for a crime but instead for questioning. The Mug shot serves as a reminder to us to be vigilant for certain people who are up to no good. "Steve" has stirred the hornet's nest and due to current events has called attention to himself. The brass wants to know why this fellow is taking pictures of police facilities under the guise of taking pictures of cars. In 2 of his photos posted here one can clearly see that his motives were not to take pictures of the cars but instead of the buildings themselves. "Steve" might very well be dealing in police facility photos and supplying the terrorists with the means to attack us. For this reason alone he is wanted for questioning by the NYPD and most likely Homeland Security.

To all cops who frequent this site please be warned that it is being monitored thanks in part to the Fort Dix incident and "Steve's" sudden appearance at numerous precincts.

This is not over by a long shot and I would not be surprised if the site owner's server isn't supenaed to determine "Steve's" IP address and true identity.

TO BE CONTINUED.

#46: If that's what Homeland Security is doing, you can understand why I call them Homeland Stupidity. Clearly you know what he's doing and to try to say he's a terrorist, well nice try.

anonymous

Posted on Thu, May 10 2007 at 12:32 PM

Steve, I only hope you are kidding. These surveillance cameras the poster is speaking about are only accessible by supervisors and above. The same cameras are tied into the mainframe down at One Police Plaza. A lowly cop does not have the means nor the authority to print out a specific frame of a surveillance segment. Most likely someone informed the big guys down at Police Headquarters about the pictures Steve was taking/posting and coincidentally the next day the Fort Dix plot was discovered. One has to admit that the resemblance of the ways these terrorists and Steve did surveillance is uncannily similar.
Bottom line is that this order comes from high above and Steve is under the pretense that some officer has taken it upon himself to target him. He is completely wrong. I have seen the mugshot as well and it clearly shows Steve using a camera equipped with a flash and taking a picture of a Police Facility in broad daylight. My command is in Brooklyn and during our rollcall we were informed about this persons acts. The image of Steve is not of him purchasing a frapachino at Startbucks but instead of him acting suspiciously around a police precinct. The campaign to expose Steve's true motives is not a form of unlawful intimidation but instead means to root out potential terroristic acts. Steve has a lot of explaining to do especially since the NYPD is bringing down all its resources to bear on him and his Fort Dix plot buddies.

Steve, your in a heap of trouble and you just don't realize it. Keep up the good work and keep the pictures flowing. I suspect after today that your police facility pictures will suddenly stop.

anonymous

Posted on Thu, May 10 2007 at 12:40 PM

Roll calls are being addressed and cops are being instructed to approach and detain(if necessary) anyone taking pictures of police facilities. The Borough commanders have authorized these these photos to be handed out during roll call. Thanks to the exposure of th Fort Dix attack plot the N.Y.P.D is not taking any chances. The threat level is real and this individual has been caught on surveillance cameras taking pictures of our buildings and cars. They want to know why and to whom this person is going to give the photos to.
Make no mistake about it, the ball is in motion to prevent any sort of attack from happening at the precinct level.

I really hope for Steve;s sake that there isn't an attack on a precinct anytime soon.
