This is obviously a car parked by a person attending a function at Gracie mansion. They are directed to park there and that is what these spots are reserved for.

I know, I know, "but the signage says".

Here's a serious question. Do you, as a tax payer, really want your money going to changing all the signs to reflect policies and practices that are already in effect?

The parking rules will NOT change. These areas are designed as a Gracie Mansion SEZ and no matter what, vehicles parked for Gracie will still be able to park there while YOU will not. Changing the signs to reflect what is already the practice is an unnecessary waste of tax payers money.

You live in one of THE most secure neighborhoods BECAUSE of Gracie Mansion and all that goes on there. Appreciate that and stop it with the nonsense.

Gracie has it's own interior parking. This is a faker. No standing means just that for all, including PD except on an emergency.

His union gives him a parking placard because there is parking in front of his firehouse and he wants the traffic agents to know his car is parked there legally while he is out ACTUALLY SAVING LIVES.. I ask what if this man risked life and limb to save your own or some family member of yours..and he was asked to come to Gracie Mansion to be honored for his service to the people of this great city...only to have the same people take a camera and call him a UNCIVIL SERVANT!

What should he do if he is at Gracie Mansion in his dress blues being honored or is there at request of the mayor?? Should he leave his car 4 blocks away when he could simply do as the Intelligence Detectives tell him to do and leave his car in the zebra stripes on the side of Gracie? Or should he request to have one of the Mayor's cars brought out into the street so he can park inside Gracie so he won't have to be labeled a UNCIVIL SERVANT.. Or better yet, should he request a better parking permit from the Mayor so he can park there? Or should he just take 40.00 out of his wallet and pay to park his car in a garage, you know since a NYC Firefighter can SO OBVIOUSLY pay out of pocket to park in pay garages!

One day I hope there is an emergency involving a fire and your very own haven from these ungrateful civil servants...and then I want you to dial 911...and when these HEROES show up to rescue YOU and your family..I want you to ask them if they parked the firetruck and their personal cars LEGALLY! I would expect him to park 4 blocks away and walk, just like any other person who has to go on a job interview, or receive an award at a graduation ceremony. At this point in time he is either a civilian getting honored, and can walk like any other civilian; or "on the job" and should have an official vehicle available with proper permits.
