The Armory -- home of the renown Fighting 69th Regiment – was there, I venture to guess, long before the bus stop. So why don't you go peddle your nonsense somewhere else, like whatever sleepy Midwest town you came from before you decided to come here to impart your wisdom upon us.

efficient streets

Only blocking plates of LE.

bus stop. illegal parking.
do not pass go.

These guys always get a free pass in my book. I would never summons them but an arrogant civilian would always get an orange envelope for prosperity sakes.

Good efficient streets with the only blocking LE thing. Right in the wake of a terrorist plot on a Military installation. Now the kind terrorists can just target the individual soldiers with the information provided by your website. Good job way to go.

#6 Stop your whining.

While I applaud your efforts to expose the inconsiderate and illigal acts of others, don't you think it was rather stupid to post photos WITH LICENSE PLATES EXPOSED of military personnel vehicles. In light of recent revelations of terrorist plots targeting our country's defenders I think your actions are almost treasonous. Remove these posts.

What sense does it make to only block the plates of LE? 6 terrorists were just arrested for planning to kill as many US military personnel as they could.

Most of the people who contribute pictures to this sight could never dream of putting their lives in harms way on a daily basis. But for those of us who do just that to make a living, we would appreciate not giving people who are out there plotting to kill us an opportunity to find out where we live.

#13. I didn't want to sound like a whiner and because it is also off topic, but now that you brought it up, the biggest quality of life issue right now in the Lower Manhattan neighborhood I live in are cyclists who have absolutely no regard whatsoever for any concept of traffic law. They blow stop signs and red lights continuously, travel the wrong way against traffic—even when there are two directions. I nearly got run over this morning in a crosswalk on a one-way street by a cyclist who blew the light in the opposite direction. I am not even very dogmatic about this as I cycle myself. But I think this website has actually given them cover and encourages their lawlessness rather than raise awareness about the rule of law that the moderators thump on their TA pulpit all the while winking to the choir. We really have to think about the registrations of bicycles that some European cities have enacted if we are to get this situation under control.

These plates really need to be blocked out.

I would not block any plates bar none. The argument is bogus. Police and whomever whopark illegally and do not get ticketed are quite obvious and the placard is in plain site as is the illegally parked car.

By the way I am an army vet with a cop for a father.

#22 Someone posted this on one of the other posts read it and see if it makes sense:

Plates should be blocked for the security of the individuals, this is a terror target people, or do you care. Obviously not. This is a terrorists wet dream to be able to find out (with a click of the button) what a soldiers address is. You people are going to say "well they park there with the plates out in the open" yes that is true but what this site does is essentially the recon for the terrorists so they don't have to risk exposing themselves by taking pictures. Who do you think will get stopped an Arab taking pictures around a military installation or a white guy who thinks that parking offenses by civil servants are the biggest tragedy since Vietnam. You people are ridiculous. These guys are serving not only their country but their state and city by being in the national guard. Give these guys a break and at least take the plates off the site.

Wake up and smell the thievery, there are no terrorists. You've all been had and will be paying for it long after you are gone.

Everybody keeps talking about terrorists. Semms like some of the domestics are more dangerous, like the kid at VA Tech. Fort Dix plot? Doesn't smell right.

The next time we have terrorists you can play the fear card and wave the flag. For now I'm not buying.

As to those in the National Guard, you signed up either for the check or to play army. Bet ya didn't know you were going to get a president who would make you the International Guard, sending you to die for the raping and pillaging of a society, when you are needed here for hurricane duty.

As for the showing of plates, show half the plate so it can be ID'ed but not the whole plate so it can be traced. Not because I think it's wrong, because they do print the prostitues' johns names in the paper, but you don't want to do more harm than good, and something can always happen, this being NY.

#27 You are a complete idiot. The terrorists arrested for the Fort Dix plot were not citizens, at least three of them were illegal. I was in the military more than ten years ago and we were always taught about operational security, knowing your surroundings and looking for things out of the ordinary. The military, both installations and personnel have and will always be targets. It is totally irresponsible for the administrators of this site to leave the plates up and not blocked. If you have a problem with the war that is fine, just don't advocate putting the soldiers lives on the line with this stupidity. Like I have said about LE vehicles put all the cars and the "violations" on this site, it does serve somewhat of a purpose, just don't put peoples lives on the line. Block out these plates now.

So now you would stoop so low as to publicly discredit serving soldiers who are willilng to fight and die to protect your rights to wear mandals, drink lattes and ride your silly bikes like Parisian postmen? Quite frankly, your recycling, pedal power and moral outrage have done nothing to save the world. You guys aren't qualified to carry those soldiers jocks.

anonymous

Posted on Tue, May 15 2007 at 11:05 AM

#29: Where do you get your facts? Fox flag waving news? I don't even know what the hell "mandals" are, I drink the same coffee as Starbucks, but I get it where they do for $5 a pound and grind and brew it myself on a vintage Corningware (USA made) found at the Goodwill.

As far as riding my bike like a silly Parisian postman, I handled a high speed head on bicycle collision on one of the bridges yesterday between 2 females, complete with tears and bent bicycles.

NYPD wasn't notified because they wouldn't have wiped tears, straightened bikes and gave a kiss to make it all better. If you think riding a bike is silly, why did the mayor call it an extreme sport?

The traffic is full of idiots who don't obey the rules ecause there's no one to make them. Judging from the coments on here, I think I know why.

As far as the soldiers, they may have volunteered to be in the military, but only a fool is happy to be in Iraq, helping destroy a civilization so Halliburton and Lockheed can loot the treasury, while Exxon Mobile loots the Iraqi oil.

Thyere are 2 million Iraqi refugees. I should salute this?

petergriffin2

Posted on Tue, May 15 2007 at 12:20 PM

No one is saying you should salute it. We are just asking for the plates to be blocked. It puts the lives of the soldiers and their families on the line in serious jeopardy. Who cares what you think about the war. You are entitled to your opinion no matter what, remember this is the USA. There are just some of us that see the seriousness of putting soldiers license plates on an internet site for all to see. It is helping people who want to do harm to our military and the soldiers that serve. So go ride your bike and be happy knowing that men and women have served and sacraficed for you to have your opinion. Do you really want to blame and hurt the individual soldier for the doings of an administration that you don't like? Block the plates now.

PS The vast majority of bike riders in this city don't every follow VTL rules like they are supposes to!!

PSS Do you really listen to everything that Mayor Blumturd says?

This is not a debate on the war, it is a danger to the men and women to keep these plates posted. Plain and simple. Who the hell cares about your views on the war? Go to one of the many protests, that is where you have your free speech.

It's not a debate on the war, it's a discussion of law breaking by the military, just establishing a pattern your honor.

petergriffin2

Posted on Thu, May 17 2007 at 08:15 AM

Who cares about patterns? This sites name is "UNCIVIL servants" soldiers are NOT civil servants, they are in the military. Just by that the posts should be taken down. If they must stay then have to common decency to block the plates of these heroes.

You sound like an idiot. If you have a problem with the war your problem is with the administration and NOT the individual soldiers. Stop trying to blame them because they joined the military and are following orders, I am sure if it was up to them they would be home in the USA and not Iraq. Also, by the very name of this website it is uncivilservants.org, no where in that name does it say permit abuse.org or anything similar. If they want to expand the purview of the site then they can change the name. Until then leave the soldiers alone.

To the administrators of the site, you have ignored my private messages and have not even had the decency to respond to me. These plates need to be blocked plain and simple. Put the cars up all you want but block the plates. Just like to LE personel this creates a serious risk of harm to the individual and their families. I understand your fight but you don't need to create any undo risk to people. You were smart enough to block the LE plates and with these it has the same basic concept. Please do the decent thing and block these plates.

Then what is the evidence. People don't know the true understanding of corruption. Most of the people that post on this site don't remember the days of the Knapp Commission or Mollen Commission. They uncovered true corruption. People believe that this stuff is corruption. I would rather anyday of the week a cop who parks illegally than a cop to takes bribes, robs, or steals (money, guns, drugs). I am happy whenever a true bad cop is taken off of the streets as I don't want them backing me up when I need help. In my career, I have NEVER taken a bribe, stole anything, robbed anyone, or any other various illegals acts that cops have been arrested for. I have used my little perk and parked illegally when it was convienent. I have never abused it but I have used it. To me it seems that most people don't remember the good old days of the 70's, 80's, and early 90's. I do. The good police officers of this city worked their collevtive a**es off to turn that around and in doing so made many people rich off of the economic boom that resulted.

I am not saying that the parking priveleges don't get abused, they do. I think this site is good that it is helping with those abuses. Parking when we go to work/court is NOT abuse it is a result of our job and those little pieces of paper we put on our dashboards allow us to do it. It is not corruption in the least. If someone can root out true corruption then go right ahead I will be the first one to applaud. I have never seen it firsthand in any command I have worked, that does not mean it is not out there, that just means that it is a very rare occurance these days.

This post and all the ones associated with it (involving national guard) are bogus. One, they are not civil servants so by the very name of this site they should be taken off. Then you argue that this site is against parking abuse. Thats fine put all these up that you want. My main argument is block the plates for the safety of the men and women in our guard, so some extremist does not want to target them personally. This site helps those extremists out. You can read my earlier posts on why it helps them.

Put all the posts up you want. It will help in some aspects. However, this will never end. It is a necessity of our job to be able to drive to work and until the city provides us with proper parking we will use our privelidge. Stop thinking that this is corruption at it's finest because this isn't even the sole of the corruption shoe. If you are so high and mighty and want to help this great city so much then why don't you volunteer in one of the many cities poorer areas and maybe help people get off drugs, help kids learn and stay out of gangs. That will bring true change to this city, not fighting the cops over little petty things such as parking.

The department has changed exponentially since the late 80's. The vast majority of the cops out there are good hard working individuals. They won't even take a free drink from a store owner because the department will come down very hard on you for that. I cannot tell you how many times someone has offered a free drink or meal to me and I always put down more than what it actually was and walk out before they get the chance to give it back.

Those 2 cops locked up in NJ should pay dearly for their crimes, they are the exception.

The off-duty cop in the Bronx, where you there? Do you know what happened? Did you see it? I don't think so. So just stay quiet about that until the full story comes out. I know that there are plently of independant witnesses from the street that saw it all and will show that the cop acted within the purview of the law.

This is getting way off base from what this post is about. This post is about doing a decent thing and blocking the license plates of these soldiers. I don't even think they should be posted to begin with, but I will compromise. Post the car and the "violation" but block the plates for the safety of the soldiers and their families.
