i fail to see how this is a violation. the person is obviously a postal employee, and as exhibited in post 1322, this car is parked in a no standing anytime except authorized vehicles: U.S. Mail zone. someone's a bit jealous of a USPS perk.
#1 - Sorry, supposed USPS employees license plates are fair game. Please don't give us some whiney sob story about how they're going to get hunted down by an irate customer.
#2,3 - This is a violation, because the placard is fraudulent. It looks like part of an envelope or something.
There is no reason to block out license plates for everybody that is on the site. We only do it out of courtesy to LE.
The sign is only for USPS trucks, marked trucks, not for personal parking.

Well that's a SEZ for them. Does it really matter is that signage is for trucks or for their own personal vehicles? Maybe there are no trucks coming in today and their supervisor told them they can park their personal vehicle there. YOU DON"T KNOW!!!!!!

When Bloomberg makes Manhattan below 96th Street a pay-to-ride zone, only the people who already live in Manhattan (the richest people in the entire world, bar none) will avoid paying substantial fees to have the convenience of a car there. The richest people will be further rewarded for being so rich.
How about if everyone who wants to register a car in Manhattan below 96th Street has to pay $8,000 a year to do so, and everyone else has to pay to get their cars onto the Island.
And law enforcement officers, who already get free LIRR and Metro North, get a huge discount on this fee, because we respect the job they do and want to give them a perk for it that we're more willing to withold from people who seek their fortunes from self-service in the free market.

Poster #15, you forgot to mention our free EZ pass and free MTA pass. As fr this proposed plan of Bloomburg there is a clause in it which excludes all emergency workers.
I love my job! Where else do you get to park where you want and not fear any implications.
Take a look at the comments on this post, and others dealing with USPS abuse. The apparent LE on this site like to crow that they would never ticket another public employee, regardless of nature of the job, agency, or whether they are local state or federal. In other words, the "perk" goes way beyond NYPD being able to park illegally, the "perk" is that LE have the discretion to systematically enforce the law based on whim. You're a public employee? Do what you want. You ride a bike? We'll enforce every possible law against you because we don't like Transportation Alternatives. You're poor? I'll cut you a break. You're rich? You're getting a ticket. You have a PBA calling card? No ticket for you. You created an obviously fake permit misrepresenting yourself as a public employee? We'll let you go too, because we can't risk the danger that a ticket might be given out to a public employee.
That's not a perk, and that's not "discretion," that's corruption.

#18, stop being jealous and embrace reality. You are not part of the inner circle and it bugs you.
bklyncop1 you should get as upset over this lawbreaking civil servant as you do over the license plate being posted.

Steve stop belly aching. You're just mad because you can't park anywhere you want too. They deserve all the perks they get. For all you know that USPS worker could have been delivering a pkg to your moma
Wow the comments on this site by people who we can reasonably assume are NYPD or affiliated in some way with them are alarming. Instead of taking the high road as we would expect an officer to do, they kick and stomp and LOVE to throw their "perks" in everyone's face - and they get a kick out of it. Ok, so no one really cares that you guys have these perks...duh it's common knowledge (ok there are maybe 15-20 people on this site who really take it to heart). But if you don't want the "commoners" to keep creating sites like this that expose you and the local news to do stories on you, have a little class and discretion! Seriously...I don't care if you park in a No Standing whatever zone...but don't waste your time on top of that by responding in an EXTREMELY child-like manner to many of the posts on here. You're just adding fuel to the fire.

If you would look at the picture it looks like the side of a Post Office. If it is a side of the Post office he is allowed to park there. The Post Offices usually have a side of the street reserved for them. All they have to do is put any item that identifies them as a Postal Employee. (env, box, Id) That is a perk that I and my fellow employees enjoy.
