YOU GUYS ARE BOTZO...THIS PROFESSION HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE SINCE BEFORE RALPH CRAMDEN EVER EVEN SAT ON A NYC MTA BUS! DISPATCHERS HAVE TO BE ON SCENE FOR THE END AND BEGINNING OF BUS ROUTES TO CORRESPOND TIME AND OTHER FACTS ABOUT THE BUS IN GENERAL.. THEY STAND OUT THERE WITH A WHITE SUPERVISORY SHIRT, CLIPBOARD IN HAND AND STOPWATCH WITH BADGE PROMINENTLY DISPLAYED FOR ALL TO SEE. HE/SHE IS MAINLY PRESENT VISUALLY FOR THE RUSH HOURS BOTH IN THE MORNING AND EVENING HOURS. HE/SHE USUALLY BRINGS HIS/HER CAR IN THE CASE OF EMERGENCY...I.E. A CRASH, HEART ATTACK OR OTHER MEDICAL CONDITION ABOARD THE BUS...HE/SHE RESPONDS WITH AN MTA EMERGENCY SERVICE UNIT AS WELL AS OTHER MTA MGT DEPENDING ON THE SEVERITY OF THE INCIDENT. IF HE/SHE CANNOT FIND "LEGAL" PARKING FOR HIS/HER VEHICLE "WHICH ABSOLUTELY MUST BE NEARBY FOR THE AFFOREMENTIONED ACCIDENT OR OTHER MATTER" HE/SHE MUST THEN PARK WHERE HE/SHE CAN BE IN VIEW OF HIS/HER VEHICLE FOR THESE REASONS. IF HE/SHE DOES PARK ON A HYDRANT YOU CAN BE OF ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY HE/SHE IS IMMEDIATE CONTACT OF HIS/HER CAR, AND THEREFOR THEY DO NOT CAUSE ANY IMMEDIATE HARM TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS THEY ARE PROVIDING A NECESSARY SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF NYC. WITH THIS BEING SAID I AS WELL AS OTHERS, WILL NOT TICKET THIS CAR UNLESS HE/SHE IS FOUND NOT TO BE ADHERRING TO THE USUAL STANDARDS OF THEIR JOB FUNCTIONS.

And having said all of that, let me remind you of how dangerous an unreachable hydrant is.

AFTER READING YOUR POST, IT SEEMS YOU ARE HELLBENT ON SAYING THE HYDRANT IS UNREACHABLE...HOW UNREACHBLE IS IT WHEN THE OWNER OF PICTURED VEHICLE IS WITHIN EARSHOT ANYONE REQUESTING IT BE MOVED, AS IT HAS BEEN THE CASE FOR WELL OVER 20 YEARS?? WHEN I CAME ON THE NYPD IN 83' THESE GUYS/GALS WERE ALWAYS CONSUMATE PROFESSIONALS WHEN DEALING WITH THE PUBLIC, EMERGENCY SERVICES, AND OTHER CITY/ STATE INFRASTRUCTURE RELATED SERVICES LIKE CON ED, AND BELL ATLANTIC. THEY WOULD MOVE THEIR CARS WITH THE GLANCE OF A BEAT COP OR BRAKELIGHT OF A MARKED PATROL CAR AT THE SIDE OF THEIR VEHICLE FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS....AND THAT IS THE FULL AND HONEST ABE TRUTH!

I HAVE NEVER HAD EVEN THE SLIGHTEST PROBLEM WITH THESE UNSUNG HEROES OF THE COMMUTING WORLD. EVERY CONTACT WAS NOTHING BUT POSITIVE, AND MORE THAN THAT..THEY WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY EVERY AND I MEAN (((EVERY))) YEAR...FOR THE HOMELESS WINTER COAT DRIVES THAT YOU SEE IN OUR PRECINCTS AS WELL AS CERTAIN TRANSIT HUBS THROUGHOUT THE CITY. THESE MEN AND WOMEN ARE ACES IN MY BOOK, AND SHOULD BE IN YOURS AS WELL, IF YOU WEREN'T SO BUSY TRYING TO MALIGN THEM WITH THIS PETTY PHOTO OF ONE SINGLE INCIDENT WHERE THEY COULDN'T FIND APPROPRIATE PARKING....REFER TO MY PREVIOUS POST...

Now having put up with another of your "I'm a fed" rants, the hydrant is still unreachable. I should post the picture of the milk truck trapped at the hydrant when a fire broke out. He was with the truck, too.

No time to ask for the veh to be moved. But your typical fed arrogance won't acknowledge that.

PLEASE POST THE PIC..ID LOVE TO SEE THE "TRAPPED" MILK TRUCK! I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO SEE NO LESS THAN TWO FIRE TRUCKS IN THE SAME PICTURE WITH THE MILK TRUCK BLOCKING THE HYDRANT...BUT ALSO...WHAT IN THE HELL HAS A MILK TRUCK TO DO WITH A PUBLIC SERVANT'S VEHICLE???(WHO IS MOST CERTAINLY PRESENT AND AWARE ENOUGH CONSCIOUSLY TO MOVE THE CAR WHEN THEY HEAR A FIRE TRUCK ENROUTE TO HIS/HER LOCATION..)

YOU GUYS REALLY HAVE NO RULES OF ENGAGEMENT WHEN POSTING THESE COMMENTS. THERE ARE NO DIFFERENTIATIONS, OR MARGINS OF ERROR, PUBLIC CORRECTION FOR ERRANT OR MISLEADING INFORMATION, JUST BRING OUT THE FIRING SQUAD FOR ANYONE WHO IS THERE LONG ENOUGH FOR THE SHUDDER TO "CLICK" ON THE LENS OF A CAMERA!! THE POLICE FROM NEW YORK TO LOS ANGELES ARE CHARGED WITH PROTECTING THOSE THAT CANNOT PROTECT THEMSELVES..AND FACE THE DAILY POSSIBILITY OF BEING KILLED WHILE DOING IT...THE SAME GOES FOR FIREMEN...I FEEL IT IS NOTHING LESS THAN SPITTING ON THE GRAVES OF THOSE THAT HAVE DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY BY CALLING ANY UNIFORMED MEMBER OF ANY FIRE OR POLICE DEPARTMENT AN "UNCIVIL SERVANT" SIMPLY BECAUSE OF A "PARKING INFRACTION" WHILE THE MEMBER IS OUT TRYING TO PROTECT ALL OF YOU.

IF THAT MEMBER IS NOT ENGAGED IN THE SWORN DUTIES OF HIS/HER OFFICE, AND USES HIS/HER PERMIT TO PARK...THEN IT IS SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY... BUT UNTIL THE DAY THAT MEMBER IS REPRIMANDED FOR DOING SO BY ((((HIS/HER)))) DEPARTMENT SOLELY, THEN IT IS AT THE TICKET ISSUING AGENT/OFFICER'S DESCRETION TO SUMMONS THE VEHICLES IN QUESTION. THE GENERAL PUBLIC DOES NOT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF POLICE/FIRE DEPARTMENT STRUCTURE, OPERATIONS, PROCEEDURES, POLICY, TACTICS, STAFFING, OR ANYTHING THAT ISN'T GENERAL PUBLIC INFORMATION. UNTIL EVERYTHING I'VE MENTIONED IS DISSEMINATED, THEN A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF THE POSTS GATHERED ON HERE ARE BASICALLY JUST "SHOTS IN THE DARK".

...as for the milk truck story...I AM A COP..NOT A police officer..(there's a difference!) and ALL of my 24 years of Law Enforcement expertise points to ONE SIMPLE AND UNIVERSAL TRUTH..Believe 50 percent of what your eyes see...and NONE of what you hear!...and my friend, you have not compelled me to see any err in my logic or reasoning..

I am ALIAS, I have posted my pictures of agency vehicles parking in illegal and sometimes hazardous locations...sometimes to the chagrin of these agencies operators...my thoughts on it..(WHATEVER) Anyways...the NYPD and other L/E agencies are constantly challenged with doing nothing less than safeguarding civility in these United States, so that YOU the general civilian public can MONDAY MORNING LAZY-BOY QUARTERBACK and shamelessly critique via the internet..(congrats on the bravery you've all mustered for that..nice!!)

My parting thoughts...

I am not going to fully scream this because I wish to be taken seriously...I simply cannot believe there are people out there who come home from whatever job they may or may not have and actually devote THEIR own personal time to post pictures of NYPD or FDNY personal cars as they go about their business or whatever in the confines of this city. Unless YOU have a DIRECT effect from a NEW YORK CITY POLICE OFFICER OR NEW YORK CITY FIREFIGHTER parking THEIR personal car somewhere, then I would say live and let live. Otherwise make your complaint through 911 and 311..then let the proceedure run it's course.

Why go the extra mile and come home as well and post pictures with a captioned story?? Are you REALLY that lonely or in need of attention THIS MUCH? I guess I know the answer to this question just by flipping to the psychologist's section of the yellow pages, yes...it's quite a few pages long. I'm also quite sure none of the "doctors" are worried about job security...not with the colorful and vibrant staffing and cyber meter-maids from this wonderful as well as mis-informative site.

I really CANNOT believe the posts pertaining to FIREFIGHTERS / PARAMEDICS and their parking "practices". I mean, all I have to say is ***WOW*** and also ****IS NOTHING SACRED AMONGST ANY OF THE CIVILIANS???*** Will you complain about generally ANYTHING?? I'll bet some of you out there reading this ACTUALLY are thinking about starting a blog/forum for civilians who are OFFENDED THAT THE POPE WEARS WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY! I can see it now.

People, people, people, I beg of you...if there are lifesavers out there doing a job in this CLEARLY thankless city..you don't have to bake them a ham, invite em' out for a round of poker/golf, save them 2 seats on the company jet, or even let em' stay for the weekend at your summer house in Sag Harbor...what you really CAN do is...

1. ***IF YOU ARE DIRECTLY AFFECTED***, leave a note on the NYPD-FDNY member's car asking them not to park there because it jeopardizes YOUR property/home!

2. If you generally believe the NYPD-FDNY member's car is parked recklessly or in an UNSAFE/HAZARDOUS manner...E.G. on HYDRANT, call 311 and make a complaint...and if you feel bad later about possibly getting a firefighter or police officer jammed up....then make a kind donation to the N.Y.C.P.A.L. They keep inner-city kids off the streets and help with things like after-school programs and field trips...EVERYONE benefits, even the kids in Battery Park, They can be reached @ Felix A.
