Is that a hydrant I see?

Observed by D on Tue, Jun 12 2007

Permits are not valid within 15 feet of a hydrant.

And the precinct number is blacked out on the permit.

Looks like it is clear of the hydrant to me, regardless of the trick angle for the camera shot. next time use a visible tape measure.

Did someone actually measure this one? Looks OK to me.

Really??? Each sidewalk square is on average 5 feet, so this is about 7-8 feet from the hydrant. I know I get ticketed when im even 14 feet away.

Ok I am on LE's side but anyone who tells me that this car is 15 feet from the hydrant is an idiot. That Range is at most 10 feet from the hydrant. Honestly, I would rather hear the "we do it because we can" defense than some bullshit about getting a tape measurer out. Be real here guys: any TEA or P.O. would ticket this vehicle if it was absent an NYPD placard.

Trick angle? How is one and a half sidewalk squares that are 3 or 4 feet each equal to 15 feet?

Altered permit? Invalid!

Seems like your eyes are playing tricks on us.

Nice try, but a standard sidewalk tile is about 5 feet by 5 feet. The front bumper is less than 10 feet from the hydrant.

If you don't believe me, feel free to take the measurement yourself. I gave the exact location of the vehicle. I don't carry a tape measure with me wherever I go.

I'm surprised nobody's made the claim yet that it's OK if the precinct number is blacked out on the permit.

hey, how come nobodys blasting him that he drives a $85K range rover? don't you usually comment that he must be doing something wrong to pay for it or why can't he pay for a garage??? Nice to see the board is finally getting more mature.

It's not any more mature, it's just that comments are now labeled "spam" and never get posted, or take DAYS to show up!
