HRA: U.S. Flag+Detectives' Asso. card=free parking

Observed by IamEntitled on Sun, Nov 04 2007

On Pell Street across from Joe's Shanghai, a fabulous free parking space for Sunday Chinatown shopping. This permit strictly notes a 3 HOUR LIMIT, and the permitholder has cleverly covered up the other restrictions with a Detectives' Endowment Association card. Does HRA tell its employees to obscure their permits in such manner? Surely an honest worker on agency business (on a Sunday) would have no need to do such a thing. Combined with the American flag sticker on the windshield, this driver is just screaming "I am entitled". We all know those association cards—as chronicled elsewhere—can be easily purchased. (I remember how retired detectives used to give them out at the office at Christmas time.) Note the sentence: "Revocation will occur if the permit is misused." Time to revoke?

Oh, I like the attempt at math for the title. Lets try another one:

(Valid DOT/HRA permit + No standing loading/unloading) < 3 hours = GOOD PARKING!

This is not illegal! Please take this photo down ASAP.

The length of time that the car was here was not stated, but as long as it was less then 3 hours, then this is parking job is ok. The chart on this site says that parking there is ok if on official business. The permit in the window indicates that he IS on official buisness (this is afterall the very REASON permits are made). He is doing nothing wrong.

The DEA card is the window has no relavance on the matter. And neither does the flag sticker for that matter (which by the way is one of the most pathetic things I have ever heard complained about on this site). Since when is it wrong to stick small stickers on your window? This site is becoming such a joke.

Funny. You say it is a Sunday. The vehicle is therefore parked LEGALLY. Orange EZ Pass, as well.

There is NO SUNDAY EXCEPTION on this block. Orange EZ Pass is not a free throw. Vehicle was parked over 3 hours. And 14FeetAway's other comments don't even merit a response.

Did you time how long the car was there. You stayed there the whole time the car was parked. If you did then you have no life.

Oh, now all of a sudden he was there for more then 3 hours. You didn't mention it before. Did you go back and check? You sure, because I doubt it.

My other comments don't merit a response? You mean the comment about the flag? I stand by my statement that it is just pathetic that you would complain about that. Respond to me or not, it's still sad.

Hey, that DEA card is from 2006! Doesn't that mean that the DEA card is "invalid" and "illegal?" Wink, wink.

Just having some fun, guys. You guys are usually so nit-picky with your posts. I thought that surely one of you astute observers noticed.

#5 & #6: Sorry for the delayed response, I hadn't checked back here thinking the dialogue was finished. The car was indeed there in excess of three hours. However, I cannot state the exact amount of time in days, hours and minutes it was parked there as I did not place this street under constant video surveillance. Perhaps I could pay a waitress at Joe's Shanghai to monitor this block?

IamE, You don't have to give an exact amount of time. But it would be nice if you included the times you saw it (ie, at 8:30am and then again at noon.) in the original story. No one expects you to sit there and stare at the thing, but if you claim it was there for more then three hours, then you should just state the times you saw it there. Simple. End of story.
