UFA Blocking a crosswalk

Observed by efficient streets on Thu, Nov 29 2007

A woman stepped in front of the main shot, but this car was parked several feet into the crosswalk. To NYPD's credit, the guy got a ticket.

I don't know where to start...

First, You guys can't retake photos when people walk infront of you?

Second, you can't pick an angle that might actually show how far the car is in the crosswalk? From this spot it does not appear to be in the crosswalk at all. The crosswalk paint is not visible, and you can't tell where exactly the car enters the crosswalk, or it it blocks the pedestrian ramp at all.

Lastly, if the car did get a ticket, thats just sad. This car (permit or not) should be given discression. It does not look like it's violating anything. Pedestrians have enough room to pass safely (there are 2 people using the cross walk in the picture).

It's ticketing like this that makes prople hate cops. If every cops used common sence, and a little discression, parking in this city would be much better.
