Police officer private vehicle blocking free access to fire hydrant at the time of an alarm. Perhaps he was confused and thought the law was 15 inches rather than 15 feet.
This officer put citizens and Fireman at risk,
NY's finest, hardly. This above the law attitude by the very people assigned to uphold the law is absurd and cannot be tolerated. His car should have been towed and scrapped.

I just obseverved the same car in the same place on 3/11/2007 11 AM but this time he did a little better aboiut 5 feet from hydrant, only 10 feet short so he is showing improvement.

i guess you would rather have the pd car take your legal spot so you have to look for parking much longer 40,000 legal spots taken is a awful lot

If you do not see a problem with a person who is supposed to uphold the law and protect and defend public safety, parked at a fire hydrant, interfering with the fire department at the time of an alarm, you are beyond reasoning with.

Yes I would rather the car take a legal spot than park at a hydrant as I've seen grown men die in fires in the time it takes to cross the living room.
To find the next hydrant and stretch a line takes longer than that

What an excellent web site! The height of official arrogance exposed to the lash of public opinion via the infobahn! There's a big gap between the public knowing that cops and other officials have legal immunity and the public seeing this odious arrogance. The best thing to do is to e-mail these incriminating photos to the mayor's office until he gets irritated by the sheer volume of e-mails and the lash of public opinion. These people think that they are nomenklatura; a Russian word for specially priveliged.
Keep up the good work! DO show plate and permit numbers; that's good evidence. Don't stop until these hypocrites (who would pontificate to you to take the bus or subway instead of driving to wherever you're going) are forced to take THEIR medicine! They will not like the taste either!
Maybe the New York State Police should troll around town for just this sort of thing. State troopers may be detached just enough to feel guiltless about summonsing the municipal cops & firefighters.
The mad motorman of Market St. West applauds your website.

They don't have to find another hydrant. i9f they need that hydrant and the car is blocking it, they break the windows and run the hose through the car.
