This corner spot is illegal because it crosses the building line to the corner. People always get a ticket for this violation. Today is Monday 5-12-08 and this car has been parked here since at least Friday 5-9-08. It is a student car with school sticker on back windshield and student parking sticker on front windshield. Must be a cop's kid using the placard for their own use.

He's not blocking the crosswalk so what is illegal about it?

Is it possible that a federal law enforcement officer goes to college? I think so. Is it another possibility that the officers child uses the car to go to school? Why does it have to be the a cop's kid using the placard?
I also never heard of a violation regarding a car crossing the building line. Can you specify the part of the New York City Traffic Rules that falls under?

there isn't a violation here, the Traffic rules state in the case there is no crosswalk, the building line is used to determine the "crosswalk". since there is a marked crosswalk any summons issued would be invalid.

I don't even think a civilian would get a ticket for this. I guess we'll just have to take your word for it...

buttle, was there a marked crosswalk?

I'm not totally convinced that this is not illegal, as the NYC Traffic Rules seem to be open to interpretation in this area. This photo will remain.

Come on, Law, this is clearly not illegal. It's not blocking the crosswalk, or traffic, or a curb cut. It's just parked. Thats it. What would the code for the violation be? I'll give you a hint, there is no code, because there is no violation. (Sure he squeezed in, but he made it, and last time I checked, squeezing is not illegal.)

Lawandorder, Hamster, Buttle I will quote the EXACT Traffic Rules sections for this photo proving it is unfounded:
Crosswalk def TR4-01(b)(6) (i)Marked crosswalk. The part of a roadway defined by two parallel lines or highlighted by a pattern of lines (perpendicular, parallel or diagonalused either separately or in combination) taht is intended to guide pedestrians into proper crossing paths. (ii) Unmarked crosswalk. That part of a roadway, other than a marked crosswalk, which is included within the extensions of the sidewalk lines between opposite sides of the roadway at an intersection. **** This means NO marked crosswalk exists, not "in addition to". Parking Violation TR4-08(e)(5) Crosswalk. Parking is Prohibited IN A CROSSWALK. So there is no violation here, this photo is invalid and ANY summons issued in this situation is invalid. CHECKMATE

haha, 14Feet, always looking out for the poor guy who's trying to squeeze in to a non-parking spot!

NYC does not mark "spots" on streets (like some towns do). "Non-parking spots" as you call them are signed, and there is no sign here. This guy managed to park his car and not block anything. Whats wrong with that? He is not violating any traffic rule. Sorry guys!
