This guy parks in front of not 1 but 2 fire hydrants which are very close together with his NYPD parking placard. He parks here 3-5 times per week for 12 hours minimum. There have been several complaints by people in my neighborhood, but to not avail. My last call to 311 was on the same day I took this picture. At that point he had been there for 3 days (he still has not moved, which makes it 6 days). When I called back for a status report, I was told "Police checked compliant, no violation found". Which is funny because when I pulled in for less than 5 min to unload a few cases of water (with my flashers on and car running), I came back to a traffic cop giving me a ticket. For the past 20 years that I have lived there, you were not allowed to park in between the fire hydrants (if you park between the 2, it gives you approx. 3ft to either hydrant). This guy thinks this is his personal driveway, he does not even attempt to look for parking while every one else either pays for a garage or spends the time finding a valid spot. Hopefully, my building will not need the assistance of the fire department any time soon.

By the picture taken we only see 1 fire hydrant. You stated there are 2 fire hydrants. You also stated that if he parks between the 2 fire hydrants he has about 3 feet to either hydrant. According to the picture taken he has more than 3 feet. By the picture taken he is more than 10 feet from the fire hydrant.

Parse all you want - the car is illegally parked.

Hiyall according to this picture he isn't park illegally. The post states that there are 2 fire hydrants. Where is it? If you count the sidewalk squares (which are 5 feet wide)he is more than the 3 feet the poster said. He is very close to being 15 feet from the fire hydrant that you see. So I will parse all I want. There is nothing wrong where he parked.

You need to be 15ft from Fire Hydrant - trust me, he is not close to be 15ft. You can't see the 2nd Fire Hydrant by the way the picture was taken - I was trying to be discreet. And if this is so legal, why does everyone else who pulls in there get a ticket no matter how long they are parked in the exact same spot.....it's illegal.

Looks like one sidewalk square, five feet at most

If you count the one square and figure out where the other ones would be because of the tree he is about 12-13ft away. You should also learn how to take pictures so you can show the other hydrant and not just say its there. I dont believe something said if there is no physical proof as to where it is. Many of the people on this site damn well know they would do the same things if they had a plaque in there car. Not saying it makes it right but you know you would do it to.
