M/F off duty cops park illegally creating blind spot which endangers kids at the school and shoppers and other drivers who must merge traffic here. When they returned, the M ordered the F to get in the car and hide the placard. The M kept his back to my camera so as not to expose his face. Knowingly Guilty!
[note from moderator: plate # is also missing on placard, and "Transit Borough Manhattan Task Force" is not anywhere near Queens]

Why does this picture look so familiar

Like I've said before hiyall THERE IS NO BLIND SPOT AT THIS LOCATION. There is no hazard. The signs should be taken down. There is no reason why anyone can't park there. You said in your post that traffic has to merge there. They merge at the other end, not at this end.

Again with the blind spot? All I see are cars parked with at least three feet between them. The only blind spot I see is the one being made by the handi-van!!! By the way, how long has that van been parked there. I seem to see it in almost all your posts. How about complaining about THAT??? I see no house nor anything that requires that van to be parkd there. If the owner lived across the street, wouldn't the owner have his/her own driveway to park in? Why use the island? Does it get tickets? I don't think so. I bet if you look under it, you'll find garbage and leaves due to it being left there all this time. I would say that's a safety hazard. And you know what they say about those types of vans parked near schools... CHILDMOLESTERS!!!!!!! How are cars merging??? If they are, they would have to be going in reverse down a one-way street (illegal due to VTL?) or going the wrong way down a one-way street (definately illegal due to VTL).The only POSSIBLE thing even close to a merge is if someone turned RIGHT from a one-way into another one-way. But wait!! What's that on the very corner that drivers have to turn??? It's the almighty handi-van!!! Unless you're superman, I bet you won't be able to see past it. That's the BLIND SPOT!!!!! Another blind spot is when drivers drive down Justice Ave. and have to see past the van, which is causing the BLIND SPOT!!!!! Show the exact position where the van is parked!!!! And the plaque!!!

dragonman -- it looks familiar because it's another picture of a chronic problem. Please, no more of your photoshop fantasies.

MVO there is no blind spot at that corner. If you were to make a right at that corner the traffic is coming to you. There would be no need to look to your right, because it is a one way. It is an island with one way traffic going in the direction the cars are parked. If the cars were parked on the other end of the island on the same side then there would be a blind spot. There is no reason why there is no parking at that spot the street is wide enough.

Question: "Why does this picture look so familiar"
Answer: Because of nonenforcement of law by the 110th Precinct and frequent law violations.

Hiyall answer this. Where is the blind spot that you keep saying?

Dragon, there is a blind spot. It's made by the handi-van. If a ped were to be waiting to cross(jaywalking) from that corner, they would be past the van probably away from the corner and if you were to make that right, it may be too late for you to see the ped because the VAN IS IN THE WAY!!! I agree with you, the DOT should reevalaute the parking situation and allow parking at that island. The streets are certainly wide enough to allow for it. All Finance has to do is put up some meters or a multimeter there and you have paid parking, even on Sundays! But if they do that, someone will be out of a hobby...

"All Finance has to do is put up some meters or a multimeter there and you have paid parking, even on Sundays!"
Or cops could stop breaking the law and start enforcing it - which would eliminate the public safety risks associated with the blind spots left by their gluttonous cars.

If they would put up meters or a multimeter then you would have a place to park and then you will lose your hobby. If people would stop jaywalking then there would be no safety issue there.

Again with the blind spots?????? PULEASE!!!!! Do something about the handi-van. Did you even call 311 about that?!?!?! So you want cops to write other cops instead of going out and fighting crime. So maybe if the cops have to answer a call say at your place of residence they should look for a proper parking spot because you would be out there with your camera taking pics of the sector to put up here????? Or God forbid they're in an AC car and someone else takes a pic and puts it up here and they get jammed up for it????? The only blind spots are the ones in your eyes because of all the flash from your camera. Dragon, the peds can't see the road cause of the flashes from hiyalls camera! There should be a site for jaywalkers.

Writing up cops who break laws is fighting crime

MVO. hiyall complains about the nypd parking in that spot but never says anything about the van that is in the exact same spot on just about every picture he takes. All the cops that come to this site must know that hiyall has to jaywalk to be able to take these pictures. So they should just wait for him to start snapping.

The van is reported on every 311 call made - not that it is relevant to this posting. Historically, there are several postings of the van as well. If you are so upset about the van, stop by and write it a summons. I am ok with your enforcement of the law. If you see me jaywalk to photograph the infractions here, you could certainly write me up. I would have quite a story to tell the courts by the way.

What kind of story would you be telling. The judge isn't going to listen to you anyway. Remember he has a placard too.
Posted on Thu, Jul 31 2008 at 11:24 PM
IF he parks here and uses his placard, he might find his vehicle posted to this site.

I worked EMS in that area for a long while- blind spots are not the reason for the pedestrians struck- JAYWALKING and disobedience of walk and don't talk signs is.

wow dragonman, do just write this stuff to try and piss people off or do you really believe in you reasoning. It would seem that the blind spot issue may be a moot point, but still the white lines are there that means "no cars or vans" in that area. So why is it ok for the placard car to park? and the same goes for the van. I think many people would be fine with a ticket for jaywalking( since you seem to have a really strong view on this) if the cops, fire and other depts with placards stopped the double standard. Your quote above about the judge and his placard and not listening, just show your postion on this matter. You seem to think we are crazy for reporting this stuff, since it will never change, because of the coruption within the system. I believe it is small minded people that abuse their placard, because of all your reasons. I have friends that are NYCADA, USDOJ,and NYPD and they could all have placards and have choosen to not get them or have gotten them and use them as they are to be used ( I have seen this for myself, no parking in front of hydrants) So reply however, as I am sure you will.
