3 cops rolled up to break the law to visit mall

Observed by hiyall on Sun, Jul 27 2008

Shopping and dining at the local malls in my neighborhood is corrupting cops daily. Another few postings here today.

These acts create blind spots which endanger other motorists and pedestrians alike.

A woman was injured by auto 6pm 12/24/2006 due to the blind spots and traffic congestion which results from these illegal acts.

Shame on the cops who break the law and shame on those who turn a blind eye.

I guess the women was jaywalking to get hit by a car. This picture shows no infraction. Wouldn't stand up in court.

Who is this woman and what is her relationship to you, hiyall? Could it be that she was in a rush to come to your shindig and had to JAYWALK to cross the street and the traffic and congestion was a result of people coming out out of the malls after shopping at the last minute for gifts before Christmas? Like Dragon says, no violation. Show us the wider pic, we know you have it on your wall hiyall.....

Sooo... a woman gets hit at night on Christmas Eve a year and a half ago, near a Mall.... lacking ANY other reported incidents, this sounds like a more safer-than-average intersection, parking whining or not.

How can the car be parked illegally if all you are showing is the license plate? That could be your car.

How would anyone know that hiyall all you are showing is a license plate. That car could be parked anywhere.

Other than the hash mark seen under the plate? - some folks look at truths squarely and choose to see nothing - could that be your affliction?

The car is illegally parked.

Hash mark means nothing. This picture shows nothing. Like I've said before this useless picture will not stand up in court.

You keep saying the car is parked illegally, show us the wider picture WITH the signage. As for your word, the hyperbole you spewed in the past has hurt your credibility(?).

mvodohmh - "As for your word, the hyperbole you spewed in the past has hurt your credibility(?)."

laughable - what makes you think you have any credibility? I simply take photos of illegal acts, debunk ridiculous myths and fallacies put forth by you and your pals whose agenda is quite clear - harass, harangue, attack with adhominem and fallacious logic any who "dare to question the right of you and your chosen gang to violate the law with impunity"

What arrogance and naiveté? I have not seen such immaturity since high school playground shenanigans.

The car is illegally parked. The 3 cops were there and 2 attempted in similar parsing word games and adhominem attacks as put forward on this site. It was the driver (who realized he was in jeopardy as I was calling 911 due to the threats) who called for his crew to load up and they left with due haste. He finally realized that he and his crew were indeed the ones on the wrong side of the law, something he likely knew all along and only cared because he got caught.

Seems you all are fond of speculation: What are the chances that someone who will distort reality, put forward false and unfounded allegations against the recorder of fact/gatherer of evidence against a pal/coworker who is illegally parking, would tell the truth - the whole truth for some other infraction perhaps with more serious consequences than a $100 fine?

My experience is that those who will lie about illegal parking (perceived small thing) will likely lie about anything with dire consequences.

I cannot imagine the lack of conscience and ethics that it takes to try and defend those who are photographed breaking the law. The corruption appears to be institutional and standard operating procedure. This does not make it okay or safe or anything else ... it is pure and simply arrogant corruption.

The act of observing this corruption is black and white - either the vehicle is illegally parked or not. The photos just document the facts. If a photo is not taken, it does not negate the factual breaking of the law by the vehicle operator - just means they did not get "caught". Caught or not - it is corruption and a reflection on character of the law breaker and those who defend, approve, enable and support present and future corruption.

What other laws and corruption is it policy to engage in for the pleasure of the PBA and other city unions? When a couple of local merchants saw me photographing illegally parked vehicles recently, they shared stories of other small "extortions" that are common from city employees. They said it was "a cost of doing business" and was not unlike the need to "pay protection" from other organized gangs in certain neighborhoods.

Statistics on this site claim nearly 80% of placard holders abuse their authority and park illegally. If true, then 20% do not abuse their authority directly, but still abuse it indirectly through their silent approval and failure to act to purge this corruption from the institution. This bending of will to allow others to break the law with immunity is likely forced by the will of the 80% - but that does not erase the stain that this corruption leaves on all.

Getting away with a risky, illegal act does not diminish the risk to the public or the corruption of the individuals who intentionally break the law with utter disdain for the law or the public risks that the law is meant to protect. The crime is the illegal act, the photo/testimony just the evidence.

At the end of all this banter, the facts are quite simple:
1) the car was illegally parked
2) I took some photos of the incident (one is posted here)
3) the crime breaker's pals are deliberately harassing those who post photographs of illegal acts on this site.
4) it is corruption and abuse of authority, deliberate and ultimately indefensible
5) it is arrogant to break the law and then advertise one's special class privilege
6) it is arrogant to boast about it on this site or any other forum ... I have even heard a late night talk show host brag about how he and a gang jumped into a NYC fire fighter's auto and just parked in the middle of the street because they could - it was great fun to be had by all in the vehicle. Pretty sad when public risks can be made light of and the subject of comedic fare.

Likely none of this will deter those hell bent on their own selfish convenience at the expense of their integrity and increase risk to public and private property or life and limb. Each time that I see the abuse of authority, I will not be silent - rather I will document it and report it just as I would should I see a drug dealer selling poisons to those who cannot resist them or a purse snatcher grab someone else's property.

There really is no difference except in perceived scale. Either you break the law or you do not. Choosing which laws someone should break or enforce seems a slippery slope - one specifically discouraged constitutionally and addressed by the separation of powers within our form of government. The problems occur when one branch of government conspires to break the law and the other 2 branches do not have the will to bring the corrupt one back into line.

So next time you think of credibility - think of the damage to credibility that you and your pals do to the institution by shallow attempts to justify or otherwise make light of the fact that breaking the law, then advertising the status of the lawbreaker has on the public. My credibility is really not important - after all, there are photos of the illegal act and I really do not need to say anything at all.
