They are supposed to be facing the parallel to the sidewalk. According to the sign there is no parking from the sign to directly across the street. Anybody who gets a ticket will beat it.
Sorry, but I don't think that's going to hold any legal water. The car is illegally parked, regardless, and it's no excuse for this person to have parked there.
It holds legal water because the sign is not posted correctly. You want law and order then read the law on signage. The signs must be facing the correct way and not defaced in anyway for the signage to be legal. So in other words the sign is not facing the correct way which makes it illegal.
We hold permit holders to the same standards that traffic court holds civilians to, not withstanding the many excuses given by Dragonman, an obvious cheerleader for bad LE behavior
CBA it is not bad LE behavior. The NYPD put their lives on the line every day to protect you and your family as well as every family in this city. So what if they get a little perk. They deserve it. They get paid very little money for what they do. I suggest we all pay another $10 a pay day so they can get a descent raise. Then you'll all cry about that. Then you'll go on and say it's the union's fault for accepting the contract. They had no choice but to accept. This web site complains about trivial stuff. Start complaining about real stuff, Like cabbies driving crazy and going through red lights. Complain about the bicycle riders who don't follow the law of the road.
I have a better idea concerning complaints. Why don't I complain about the 2 rookie foot posts that may have caught Mr Eric Cherry instead of spending hours waiting to stop vehicles in the middle of traffic to write one summons every 2 hours.
These 2 actually stopped a vehicle in the middle of the intersection and stood on either side of it while traffic zoomed around them. Of course they had no RMP to denote a lane closure, causing a dangerous condition for all.
About 2 hours later, the Mayor of Long Island City was beaten to death (9 cracked ribs, 67 years old) 2 blocks away.
Had these two actually been on patrol instead of lounging on the hood of a car for a half hour at a time before stepping out to check a reg sticker, they might have come across Mr Cherry and saved an old man's life.
I went to the scene and made video. It is part of my audit of NYPD operations that the mayor has requested. They keep sending me a flyer asking for my comments.
Twice I have been chased for taking pictures of car stops that resulted in illegal activity on the part of the officers, chasing me into buildings they had no reason to enter. Should be interesting to hear the excuses on those.
Several other times, your officers cursed, assaulted and generally acted like thugs towards me and my neighbors. Too bad the vid was running the whole time. It will be an intersesting story when I'm done.
The best was the gunpoint robbery in full view of the Skywatch tower with the gunman running right past waving a gun and they couldn't catch him. Stopped just about all the law abiding citizens to harrass them though.
At the end I will ask for tight controls on the NYPD and it's supervisors, as well as a District Attorney Review Board.
If you knew what I had you would shut up and slink away before we audit you. I'm sure you can supply much in the way of wrong doing, judging from the amount of excuses for bad behavior you've given.

If they happen to get a ticket they will beat it. The sign is not facing the right way.

The No Parking sign (the top one) most certainly is facing the right way.

The top sign as well as the bottom sign are facing towards the street.

I wonder how often that has worked in court. The standard we hold permit holders to is the same as a civilian in traffic court.
So If a civillian is told that's ridiculous, we don't want to hear it from a permit holder

Kind of strange that none of the stuff you said in your post was ever on the news.
