Apparently, the gym at the Atlas Park shopping center in Glendale, Queens is a favorite amongst the NYPD. You have to pay $3 to park in the mall's parking garage. So they park on the street, in a "no standing anytime" zone instead. They never get ticketed because of professional courtesy and they block the bus from pulling over into a special cutout.

Where is the signage? This picture a well as the other 4 that were taken by Queenswatcher shows no infraction.

But isn't it in the publics best interest to have active, healthy, strong cops and firefighters? The public complains that cops "are fat" and "only eat donuts all the time", but when some of them take an ACTIVE solution to it, and spend their own money (a NYSC membership is not cheap) to do it, the public complains about how the park! This serves everyone: healthy cops, safer public. So whats the problem?

Here is a photo of the area where this is going on:

You can see the no parking anytime sign and to the left you can see the cutout for the bus which becomes useless when cars of NYPD personnel are parked there illegally. The garage is the structure seen behind the sign.

Wouldn't it be healthier to walk a bit further from legal parking - I know it would be healthier for anyone that the illegal parking puts in jeopardy.

Also, it would be more important to have cops and firefighters with integrity and who obey the laws that they are to enforce - health is a personal choice.

So when you're in trouble, and need to be carried out of a burning building, you want the skinny weak cop with intergity to do it, not the one with muscles? Ok... Also, there is very little free legal parking around this mall, so "walking a bit farther" is probably a very long distance...

so according to you - you have to be skinny to have integrity - developing musculature somehow destroys integrity. Why is that logic not fallacious?

No, acording to you the cops/firefighters using this gym have no integrity, and you said it would be more important that they did, then for them to be healthy... I disagree... A minor parking infraction does not bother me in the least, especially when they are doing an activity that benefits not only themselves, but also the general public... If you ask me, the NYPD and FDNY should do way more to encourage physical fitness... Maybe even pay for gym memberships and parking?

My position is those who will intentionally break a law, conspire with others to help them escape any punishment for that lawlessness, endanger the public that they swear to protect and serve, retaliate against those who out them, bully others whenever they wish - these folks definitely have no integrity. Perhaps there are some that park legally and use the gym - I honor their service and integrity - the ones who break the law are just folks who disregard the laws and ordinances they swore to uphold who happen to have badges.
