That cement with a curb is for extended parking, right?

Smaller police vehicles are increasingly parked on our sidewalks even though they built a parking space for these in the substation across the street!

This is absolutely ridiculous....to be targeting the NYPD. Parking courtesy is the LEAST we can do for them. I don't see any of these picture taking cowards risking their lives DAY AFTER DAY!!! Get a life and find another fight to fight, maybe one you might win!

if they don't park on the sidewalk, then let them park on the street. This will only reduce available parking spaces for the citizens.

can you be a little bit smarter to find something else to fight with????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Put the cops on bikes. Take away the scooters. They can park their bikes on the sidewalk.

I see plenty of room to walk by, I don't understand the safety hazard aspect of this. People need to get a life and leave cops alone for petty bulls**t when they are putting their lives on the line for us everyday. I am glad I moved away from that godawful city I used to love. I hope the cops just stop caring and then we will see what happens and then who cries about it!

this is right by a police precinct substation. blame the city, not the officers, for not thinking about a place to put the scooters when they put the precinct there.

After browsing this site and the comments for several days and reading the NY Times Metro section article on 3/22/2007 I am more upset than ever before. There has to be a better way to reduce car traffic in New York than "outing" parking plaques on civil servants cars. Especially vital services like police, fire, and court employees. What is even worse is that when we park legally we are taking spots away from you! You are cutting off your nose to spite your face!!!
HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT
That is Idiotic!!!!

I need to be able to park my car near my command. I don't block hydrants, crosswalks, or busstops, noone should. I do put the wheels on the sidewalk NOT close off the sidewalk. I may be there 8 hours on a normal day. I could be there 20 hours if I have an arrest a mobilization or a or unusual case.
I need to park the car near the command in a secure spot and do my job without worrying about the car. I can't take public transportation because of the service and route changes at 2 and 3 a.m. when I get off of work. Some bus lines are not even running. At that time in the morning it takes me 2 hours 10 minutes to get home but only 30 minutes by car.
Why don't you go after the MTA!!
On 9/11 all the busses and subways into Manhattan were shut down. How were the cops and firemen supposed to get to work then???
You guys have to think this through.
What is even worse is you censor the site!!! There is not a true debate you remove postings that argue for you to change or moderate your approach. It is a private site (hmmm...you are a not for profit) maybe you can do what you want with it, but you are not fair!

Is there something else behind this? This is animus, What are you really angry about??? Let's talk this out.

You need to be carefull about what you are starting here. There are a whole lot of laws on the books we don't enforce due to tradition and because social norms have changed. What if we handcuffed everyone for smoking a joint or not cleaning up after their dog, and put them through the system, instead of giving summonses. Maybe we need to get an aggressive tow policy for bikes chained to street fixtures...Oh I forgot we already do clip bike chains and confiscate bikes that are parked illegally and chained to public property illegaly. We need to do more of it!
Do you really want to turn all of New York City into a Total Enforcement Zone? Do you really want to live in a place like that? If you do I know where to start....West 26th.

Looks like excellent use of limited space. I would feel safe walking down this sidewalk. No problem with this at all
