looks like this is a official place like a police pct or something...i doubt that all those cops just decided lets 90 degree park on the sidewalk because they wanted to buy a cup of coffee

it is in the PD's contract to be issued parking permits for parking at work get over it.
#2,
I've heard that so many times, but any contract we've seen does not say that every officer will be guaranteed a space to park at work. It says that reasonable effort will be made to provide parking at work Please demonstrate to us that we're wrong on this.
Likewise, a legal contract would not sanction illegal activity. The contract would not give the right to break the law. The City's Law and Labor departments would never consent to that because of liability issues.

funny, i doubt 90% of the nypd have even seen their last contract. Regardless of what the contract states it does not trump NYC dot parking regulations. if your contract actually state that parking will be provided and it is not, file a grievance, that is how you handle contract violations. If your contract states transfers will be by seniority and your involuntarily transferred to Staten island and nickynewguy get to stay in the preferred precinct, do you refuse to go since it would be a violation of the contract? Nope, you do what your told. Once there you contact your pba delegate who will solve your problem :)

If the idiot who took this picture would happen to take a look around and see that there was a precinct at the Train Station and that there was Police Vehicles parked all over...He would notice that that Officer was working. Something that the idiot who took the picture should get....A JOB!!! These COPS work long days and get nothing in return by the MAYOR!!! They do the WORK and everyone else gets the CREDIT. They don't want the CREDIT, They want the COMPENSATION!!! DID SOMEONE SAY SURPLUS MR. MAYOR?!?!?

All you people out there obviously do not have anything better to do than take pictures of city vehicles. Try getting a job and if not move to another city. Do i disagree with parking in front of a fire hydrant (yes i do). If all of you have a problem petition the city to set up parking lots to accomodate every city worker's vehicle and you won't have this problem. In closing,Don't judge others until you walk in their shoes.

This isn't a "moral issue", it's a legal issue and a quality of life issue.
Each block and each station is different and there are certainly times and places where city works should be allowed to park illegally. However it's obvious there is rampant abuse of illegal parking and that it's creating traffic and safety problems in some parts of our neighborhoods.
Justifying this with rhetoric about heroes or bad pay is disingenuous.

Cops should just stop working and drive around all day looking for legal parking spots. When someone calls 911 the operator can say that the cops are busy trying to find parking.

I was just looking at the situation, how is it a safety hazard? The sidewalk is wide open behind the auto and the street is more than clear to allow the ease of traffic. By the cars parking this way, it makes 2 spots instead of one so more people can park without double parking and truly causing a saftey hazard. Poor Cops are just trying to get to work and make sure that their autos are in the same state when they left. I think that the people taking photos and using this site, should actually be taking pictures of the people actually abusing their ability to park with the permits and not the poor guys trying to make more with less.
Interesting. So you think the NYPD would allow regular civilians to park on the sidewalk like this? Or do you think they would ticket them and have them towed? There is a double standard here where one does not legally exist.

Why would they worry that their cars wouldn't be in the same state as when they left?
Because that's what civillians have to put up with, but they don't get to park wherever they feel like.
