Bud - you don't like it - call the President

I have to get my family to view the lighting of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center!

On one of the busiest, most congested nights of the year, this vehicle comes blasting up Avenue of the Americas with lights flashing and weaving through traffic. It turns west on 53rd street and pulls over at a No Standing Anytime zone and parks. The driver (black male) puts an official business placard on the dash and exits the car with 3 black females (1 adult and 2 children). They then walk off in the direction of the Rockefeller Center where the Official Christmas tree lighting ceremony was being held.

This vehicle continued to cause many traffic issues for both pedestrians and other vehicles for the next hour that I was at the location, while waiting for my ride home.

This is arrogant abuse of authority for very selfish self serving reasons. It shows the utter disdain that this individual has no concern at all for the safety or convenience of others. In my opinion, this individual should not be allowed anywhere near power or authority. The behavior exhibited tonight was reckless and endangered others both for the driving with lights on and weaving in and out of traffic, followed by leaving the vehicle behind and endangering all who then had to navigate past it.

You really dont know what this person was doing there. Perhaps he was taking an officer's widow and her children to a nearby function? When you dont know the real story why must the act always be an abuse?

JQP - Yeah, taking "an officer's widow and her children to a nearby function" really necessitates weaving through traffic and causing a menace to everyone on the street. What happens when this irresponsible behavior results in producing more widows?

The number and types of pathetic excuses for illegal and dangerous behavior on this site by supposed members of the NYPD and other agencies manages to be frightening and lame at the same time.

The original post states that he observed this activity "while waiting for my ride home."
That says it all. Sour grapes. He was jealous that a civil servant had a car while he was waiting for a bus. How do we know the driver acted recklessly? Oh I forgot...we need to take the work of the jealous guy with a chip on his shoulder waiting for the bus. Case closed. Cop must be guilty. Same for many of the comments on this site. People are jealous thaty they cant park in NY so naturally, the cops MUST be abusing a perk.

Interesting take JQP.

Note that I did not complain about the official cruisers intelligently parked down the street but in a no standing zone - as they were actually on duty and present should an emergency call for them to move their vehicle or actually become involved as first responders.

I have no chip on my shoulder for any who obey or enforce the laws. I will document those who do not - as I come across them. They endanger others and this is simply intolerable in a modern society and land of laws. It is rogue behavior by rogues - with larceny in their hearts and minds - folks likely psychologically unfit for their job in law enforcement.

We should have higher standards and they should obey the law.

It's funny. We only want police around when we need them. Then we can't say enough good about them. But even that lasts a short period of time and we go back to the old way of thinking. You should be happy if and when a cop is around, on duty or not. Cops and Doctors put their lives on the line. Doctors get to park, why not Cops and low paid government employees. We want and need them but we can't stand to see them get away with anything as insignificant as parking, which by the way, is how they get to work to serve the public.

It's getting so crazy that I have a friend who drove a criminal to court, and when he came back outside, his government car got towed. He had to waist "government time" to go get a letter from the Police Dept. so he could waist even more time to pick the government car from the impound. Is that a good use of tax payer dollars? Think about it.
