Drives in from Jersey to work in a Post Office on the Upper West Side and parks on the sidewalk? Bad manners. Oh, and by the way, he's got $330 in unpaid tickets, including parking in front of a fire hydrant right here on this block.

Oh boy, I should post some pictures of USPS employee cars on my block. They consistently park on the sidewalk and double-park.
There are also a few residents who illegally use copied permits to park in USPS-permit-only zones.

het, if you actually see a forged permit call the nypd's iab at 1-800-PRIDEPD... its much more useful (tho i'm sure less gratifying) than just posting pics and complaining online

Rest assured IAB is getting all of the relevant posts on this site in a formal letter from the legal team.

I would like some information, if posssible. There are many police officers who have "Precinct Permits" and use them when they park at meters-and do not put money in the meter. I have seen police and traffic agents routinely disregard these vehicles while allowing them to park at expired meters.
Is it legal to ue these non official permits to avoid paying meters?

Newby, if the car is parked away from the their precinct (the first three digits on the permit are usually the preceinct number) and it's a personally owned vehicle with a "restricted" precinct permit, the owner should be feeding the meter. How far away from their precinct they have to be before they have to pay, it's not so clear, but certainly not more than 3 blocks or so, and some say it's less.
Find precinct locations here:
