I am sorry but a UFA placard always gets a free pass in my book. How we quickly forget 9/11. I do not know a soul in law enforcement that would deny these individuals a much deserved parking perk. The city of New York might not recognize these placards but the city workers who enforce the traffic regulations sure as hell do recognize them. It is called prefessional courtesy for all those who do not have the luxury of being within the inner circle.
Ah, 9/11! -- the universal excuse for lawbreakers and criminals from the President on down to supposed FDNY employees. Sorry, but this person is obviously not attending to an emergency, so no, they do not get a free pass.
"Luxury"? "Inner circle"? You've got to be kidding me. This is elitist garbage.
No free pass for him you say? Thank god that the duties of law enforcement are in much better hands than yours. Might I suggest you take the next civil servant exam for traffic agent and feebly attempt to change things from within. Perhaps you are correct and he or she is not attending to a situation involving an emergency issue but it all boils down to the individual law enforcement agent who issues the summons as to determine if a summons shall or shall not be issued. Being that you are not within the "inner circle" I do not expect you to understand anything that has to do with professional courtesy. My job allows me the choice of choosing who I will give a free pass to and in a case where I see a fire union issued placard I always extend them the courtesy and just move on to the next car. I am sure if the mayor ever decides to fill my spot for a day he would summons the car of one of these placard owners but till that day comes such a thing will not and should not happen. Please do not kill the messenger because I do not choose to summons the poor fireman. Perhaps the real issue here is that law enforcement agents have the luxury to pick and choose the recipients of the much balleyhooed orange envelope. Perhaps it is the exclusion of the general public from this "inner circle" that motivates some to bash these heroes of 9/11. How quickly we forget their sacrifices. I for one shall not forget what they did for the citizens of the city on that day. Have they not earned this small perk? My answer is a resounding "YES".
Well spoken Mr. Fuss. There was once a time when the public loved their civil servants especially cops & firemen. There was a time that the public went out of their way to take care of them. My, how the times have changed. The jealous public now seems hell bent on taking what little was granted to the civil servant for doing a job that was for the better part thankless. I recall in the 1960's how my father rented apts to cops and firemen at 50% of what he typically charged the rest of his tenants. Why? Because they earned it and it was great to have a cop or fireman in the building. Now a days, a landlord looks down his nose at a public servant in a jealous manner never before seen. People hate that cops and firemen work only 20 years and retire with upto 50% of their salary tax free FOR LIFE. The envy consumes them to watch a 40 year old man or woman retired at such a young age. The jealous public now wants to strip these and other perks from the working man and this sort of stuff just disgusts me. Suddenly it is cool to talk about an added tier for new city workers and the stripping of parking perks. All this envy comes at a cost.
I agree Dragon, it is just pure envy. Now they covet what the city worker has and it just burns them to see that we take care of our own via professional courtesy. It will be a dark day on the surface of the sun when I summons a car belonging to a fellow law enforcement worker. Hiyall loves to say that we should report it but I would ask him to whom should I report this case to especially when it is legal to grant professional courtesy. No law is being broken here hence why should any worker report it. Keep in mind that such a thing would never happen anyway.
It is illegal period. I have no desire to park illegal nor do I have any need to. I am not the story here - the illegality and the conspiracy to break laws and lack of integrity are.
You keep saying this is illegal but you do not offer a shred of proof. Might I suggest you prove to the many readers of this site how the act of "prefessional courtesy" is illegal. Please quote to me actual law that states that my actions are illegal. I am curious Hiyall, how much time will I get in prison or jail for extending professional courtesy to my co workers? Can you answer me this? Until you prove that my actions are illegal might I suggest you refrain from spreading your own brand of personal falsehoods in order to feebly attempt to prove your erroneous points of view. Let me repeat, the extending of professional courtesy is not illegal nor is it based on conspiracy. I await your proof with baited breath.
And this is your proof, Hiyall? If this indeed was proof, which unequivically it is not, then professional courtesy would be abolished from the highest court in the nation. I guess the wheels of justice are slow especially since no order has come down from the Supreme Court as of yet. Keep waiting , Hiyall. On a serious note, Hiyall is erroneously interpreting constitutional ammendments to feebly attempt to explain why professional courtesy is illegal. Hiyall, nice try but you are so wrong on so many levels. Thank heavens you are not a lawyer.
It just occurred to me - if you are indeed a police officer and have to ask if your unconstitutional behavior is illegal, then you are surely unfit to serve as a police officer. Corruption, coercion, conspiracy to commit crimes and assist others in the abetting of their crimes - what a legacy you and those like you are for a police department.
Sorry Hiyall but I never did say I was a police officer. What I am though is a traffic agent with the same parking placard and prividges as all police officers. I am covered within the "inner circle" in which professional courtesy reigns. Why is it that you term this courtesy corruption when in fact it is totally legal? It would seem that you attack everything that you are not part of. Fear not, they are hiring a block of new traffic agents in June. It is not to late to join our fraternity and enjoy the fruits of our trade.

Simple - the auto is illegal. Tag it and report the co-conspirators.

It is because they are jealous. You can park there and they can't

It is illegal, a conspiracy and often dangerous.

You are not covered in our neighborhood. Park illegally here and get photographed and reported.

It is an illegal conspiracy to break the law and allow protected groups to avert the law.
