Haha, man, any exuse for law breakers is good for you, right? The sign is not for hospital employees. I forget the exact wording, but I do remember that it was not for employees but was for ambulances. A random EMT permit (of dubious provenance) is not an ambulance. Visiting this area often, it's pretty clear that people are abusing parking regulations for commuting purposes. It's illegal, causes unnecessary congestion and pollution, and is potentially dangerous.
If you would look at my first posting I said that I can't make out the small print. When you post a picture with the signage all the print should be readable. If the EMT is working out of that hospital he can park there.
Even if they can't park there even though I know they could. They will not get a ticket. That is the NYPD'S life line. They are not going to ticket the person who might have to go and save their lives.
Let me assure lawandorder that NO summons would be issued. The professional courtesy would be extended 100% of the time. All the other cars parked there that were not owned by a city worker would most definately get a summons.
It's an EMT saving lives in an ambulance all day. EMTs and medics do incredible work and are extremely unappreciated, especially the ones that work out of hospitals instead of being an FDNY EMT. Give them a break, they should get placards just like everyone else to park within a few blocks of their hospital.

Can't make out the small print on the sign. If the sign is for hospital employees he/she is allowed to park there.

No, again, the EMT may not park there, even if they work there.

Ah, there's that "professional courtesy" again, which is beginning to sound like "retraining required".
