Macy's is having a sale so this driver can't resist. Parks in No Standing Anytime zone adjacent to school, 2 malls and midst merging traffic - to self indulge a shopping addiction. Public safety is thrown out the window along with NYPD's integrity.
What me worry? this driver asks - I am a cop after all.
3 young lives were lost in this neighborhood in the past 2 years due to traffic related - line of sight and undeterred speeding:
Carolina Hernandez, 13, Killed when driver didn't see her or her bike 8/16/07
Asif Rahman, 22, Killed when truck hit him as he navigated around an illegally parked car 2/28/08
Jasmine Paragas, 14, Killed by bus that was speeding to make a light
Likely the 311 complaint will be closed by false statement as the majority of past complaints have been.
Folks who lie about illegal parking will likely lie about anything.

Still using these tragedies to further your cause, eh? Seems to me the accidents all happened East ,West and SouthWest of your location. So your conclusion that it's because of the parking at your little island that caused all those accidents? Now that's stretching the truth a little, hmmm? I will keep on debunking your logic until you show PROOF there are accidents or casualties DIRECTLY linked to the cars parked at your island of paradise. Anything??? Anything??? Beuller??? Beuller??? What about the woman who was supposedly hurt during Christams not too long ago you keep mentioning? I'm still curious as to her relation to you. But you keep refusing to answer my questions.

Other than hiyall, has anyone else here been at this intersection recently? I was back in the area a few weeks ago, and it is surprisingly a quiet block for all these obstructions and evil acts mentioned here. Not that I condone criminal acts, but really blaming deaths that occurred many blocks away from a corner on a car illegally parked on a completely different day is absolutely nuts. I thank MVODOHMH for the actual locations of the incidents. Likewise, to say parking here is somehow a major road obstruction is likewise a fallacy. In fact, I was driving an ambulance the day I was back there, cars were parked next to the island, and a truck was double parked just west of the island on the left side. I fit through with no difficulty and could easily see all the pedestrians on the island. To imply that the occasions where a public service person parks here suddenly makes them responsible for the deaths of kids who didnt even die here is absolutely silly.
I would be more inclined to support you if you had taken a photo of the three cars parked next to the island, the truck, and the kids playing in the playground the day I drove through. Alas, the only ones who should be held accountable are the public servants and the 110 precinct for responding to emergencies before traffic infractions.
