Observed by gagneur on Fri, Feb 27 2009

This street under the Brooklyn Bridge is a city employee sidewalk parking paradise. Sad. of the more than 20 cars on the sidewalk permits range from NYPD, to DOT to Courts.

So are you saying that I can park my truck on any sidewalk as long as it is "very seldomly" used?

If you have a placard you can.

um no I am saying you can park your'e vehicle on any sidewalk as long as you have an nypd plaque or any other plaque legal in NYC if you do not own such a plaque then no you may not park you're vehicle illegaly anywhere. Since these vehicles have such a plaque they may park there vehicles on the sidewalk.

mgv - again, you are incorrect. You need to read the DOT parking regulations. They are very clear on this. It is flat out illegal to park on the sidewalk, anywhere, with any placard, unless that driver is responding to an emergency.

Oh really Law. Not in a self enforcement zone. Plus they are not going to ticket their own. Get used to it.

Yes, even in a so-called Self Enforcement Zone. I don't know if this one is or not, but regardless, it's illegal.

"they are not going to ticket their own". You keep saying that, but I keep reading (and seeing with my own eyes) that they are, in fact, ticketing their own. And suspending, firing and arresting. Not nearly enough, but it is happening more now. How much more remains to be seen.

mgv1992 - No, you are incorrect. NYPD Restricted placards, like other placards, are NEVER allowed in bus stops, crosswalks, driveways, at fire hydrants an in "No Standing/Stopping Anytime" and "No Standing/Stopping: with specified hours, or on specified streets in the Garment District. Emergencies, of course, are an exception.

NYPD Restricted placards ARE allowed at agency authorized curbsides (NYPD), at No Parking Anytime, No Parking w/specified hours, "NO Standing except Trucks Loading and Unloading", at Parking meters and in the Blue zone... but ONLY within the correct Self Enforcement Zone.

No, actually, I am correct. I'm looking at the DOT regulations right now. If you have any documentation to the contrary, I'd be interested in seeing it.

As for "getting used to it", I already am! Illegal parking by civil servants has been going for a long time. Now it's your turn to get used to the new order.

What new order LAW? Did they get a ticket? The answer as usual is NO. So I guess you should get used to it.

No, but as I've stated numerous times (which you have ignored), many others are indeed getting ticketed, towed, fined, disciplined and arrested. An improvement from before.
