Sidewalk Closed for 30th Precint Parking

Observed by JUptown on Sun, Mar 01 2009

Police parked on the sidewalk at the 30th Precinct in Manhattan. Crudely typed permit. The parked vehicles occupy the entire north sidewalk forcing people to walk in the middle of the street.

Three posts down, you, mgv1992, said that there was no violation because there was still room for pedestrians to walk. Now, with the vehicles completely blocking the sidewalk, you say it is legal because its a "self-enforcement zone". These rules must be written down somewhere. Care to provide us with the source?

how about you take a little stroll down to your'e local police precint. There you will find all the answers you need. That's my source. Whether you like it or not mbroughton02 this is thier self-enforcment zone. Maybe you are blind but the precint is right across the street. So I say once again this is there self-enforcment zone. Any other issues or comments please feel free to message me privatly or comment on this page.

mgv1882 - No, it is illegal to park on the sidewalk, even in so-called Self Enforcement Zones (unless of course it is an emergency). Check the DOT regulations -- I have.

If you look at the picture you will see yellow lines marking where to park, so I guess it's legal for them to park there because it is a SEZ.

dragonman -- the yellow lines, probably painted by the precinct, are almost certainly illegal.
