It is his/her private parking. They can park there and you can't. Like I've said in previous posts. It opens a spot up for you to park (That is even if you drive).

They usually follow up. Enough follow ups and illegal, risky and dangerous behavior can be changed, albeit at a personal price of harassment, assault, retaliation and other childish, illegal and unconstitutional acts against the messenger.
IAB forwards the complaints to the officer's supervisor. In many cases, I have received calls from the supervisor for additional information or a copy of the photo that I took so that disciplinary action can be taken. After I forwarded the information requested, I typically received a call back from the supervisor with general information of what was done - but no specifics. I do know that once a supervisor called me, I did not see repeat offenses by the one who broke the law and got caught and reported. This is why I stated what I did in the earlier posting.
It is in my opinion a complete and utter waste of time to enter into some childish fray with folks like dragonman. His posts speak for themselves and are not intended to be constructive or positive with regard to public safety or honor or integrity. Let him have his last word, just package the photo with a factual statement of the event and send to IAB if NYPD or Nicholas Scoppetta (via nyc.gov site) and conflict of interest board (via nyc.gov site) if fire dept and/or other employee of the city. In addition, please include a statement and any evidence that the traffic laws are unequally applied based on one's employer. This is willful negligence and coming from a neighborhood that lost 3 children to auto collisions in the past 2 years - these are acts with dire consequences. This is not to diminish the danger of rampant, unchecked speeding, use of cell phones while driving or jaywalking. These combined with line of sight issues due to rampant illegal parking make for a deadly cocktail to the unfortunate ones who become victims.
It is unfortunate for the citizens of New York that we are saddled with many immature, selfish and dishonorable government workers. It stains the majority of government workers who obey the laws (they enforce) and act with honor and integrity each day they perform their duties. It is not surprising to this observer that many of the ones who "illegally park", "illegally speed", "run lights and roll stop signs" - become very indignant and resort to various means of intimidation to have their way. Bullies and kids will continue to be bullies and kids until they have life experiences that convince them that they are on the wrong path. Consistent, effective documentation and reporting to proper channels and legal action when necessary will prevail in the long run. In our neighborhood, illegal parking is much more rare now than 2 years ago. It still occurs from time to time, but once I get the evidence and report it, I do not see a chronic repeat offender. I would have to say that I applaud the IAB. They may or may not find acting on my complaints particularly enjoyable, but act they do. It is the end result that is important. Our neighborhood is much safer these days, with speeding, blocking fire hydrants, and occasional illegal parking still present but at much lower levels. This is not due to any visible action on the part of the 110th - a precinct that has greatly damaged its integrity by its own inaction.
As usual hiyall you add stories to your complaint. Those 3 people didn't hurt because of cars parking in no parking or no standing zones. They were not at the island that you complain about the most. If you only knew what they tell us. The joke is on you.
With nothing to say to defend an indefensible act, one must resort to ad hominid I suppose. Why not just obey the law and/or enforce it as you swore to do before being authorized as a police officer.
I am not the story here - so say, think what you like. If cars are not left as safety hazards in our neighborhood, then everyone is safer.
I'm just not seeing a grave safety hazard in this instance. It's a different story if he is blocking a fire hydrant, in a fire zone where a fire truck can't make the turn around a corner, or parked blocking a handicapped curb cut, but none of those are the cases. Judging by this picture I don't even see what the reason for the NSA sign is. Instead of arguing he's parked there, call the DOT and advocate for a sign change back to alternate-side street cleaning spots.
I think the DOT signage is a separate issue. Also, there is no parking directly in front of this building for ambulances, which are not infrequent visitors as the building has many older residents. This No Standing zone is probably intended for them.

hiyall have you had any success after reporting to IAB?

No he hasn't because if he did he would still be putting pictures on this web site.

Yeah, I'd be interested in learning the IAB's response too.
