This guy has adopted this spot as his reserved spot obviously not even trying to find a "legal" spot,
His commander says he doesn't see the car and neither does enforcement.
This is the second posting although he has been there many times since the first posting.

The Blind leading the blind. I only wish it were that way when they ticket the public for petty infractions daily!

That is the crux if the matter Frank. Law enforcement that feels the laws don't apply to them,
The selective enforcement problem creates animosity and distrust and a lack of respect.

If you are not talking to a Capt or above at the local precinct don't expect much.
311 is probably the answer, as everything that goes thru 311 is tracked and must be addressed. 311 jobs take priority over felony jobs in the past... so a double parker called in thru 311 gets priority over the caller that comes home and finds their apt has been burglarized.

Actually all this gets you is nowhere.
I took parking abuse to the level of the mayors and all I got was nonsense spin on how it was forwarded to olice headquarters. They were sure to divulge my name and contact info to the local precinct despite requesting anonyimity.
The city is corrupt.

I dont see any sign in this photo only a vehicle of some sort behind it. How about taking a better picture that shows the sign and while your at it, lets get a shot of teh van too.

The other photo is far more effective and thus I feel you are being manipulated to back off. If they were not parking so obviously illegal and drawing attention to themselves at hydrants, on sidewalks, in bus stops and crosswalks they would have a point.
I assume the poster did take better pictures in the ones we have no access to. If not he is making a mistake.
The original photo makes the point very strongly and is the way to go.

Folks, we have access to all the photos in every post. We will be using them to follow up.

The only safety hazard is that the people running this website have no regard of safety for the police officers. Nice, show the world the cars officers drive on a daily basis. As if their low pay and willingness to put their lives on the lines wasn't enough, now they should pay for parking garages too??
Nice to see what the city thinks of the people who risk their lives day in and day out for them...obviously, their personal safety means nothing.
DISGUSTING.

Nice to see police officers don't respect the law, and only whine when honest citizens expect them to! Parking regulations are created to protect public safety, and when the police break those parking regulations they are creating a safety hazard. Period. So do your job and stop whining. All police officers are volunteers - they weren't drafted - and if they don't like having to uphold the job, they should go do something else.
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 09:17 AM
Pay for parking garages? This is New York City - police officers can take the subway just like everyone else.
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 10:54 AM
BRAVO #11!! "All police officers are volunteers - they weren't drafted - and if they don't like having to uphold the job, they should go do something else"
I would like to add...
ALL OF THESE JOBS ARE VOLUNTEER JOBS. no one forced you to abuse your lawful employment.
finally, if the law breaks the law, whats the point of democracy.
Keep up the awareness, never back down.

This is to #10.If your so worried about your personal car being shown TRY PARKING LEGALLY!!!!!
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 12:20 PM
for #10
If cops had to pay for parking or took public transportation like the rest of us then
1. more would live inside nyc and pay real estate tax to nyc rather than in cop ghetto's in nassau and suffolk county
2. If cops lived in neighborhoods where they worked then they might have more respect for the people living there. crime would go down and property values would go up. Many analysts believe that community policing is the way to lower crime rates without violating civil rights.

you guys are just a bunch of nothing else better to do guys than taking picture cars. First of all, it is hardly impossible to find parking spots in the city. Second, some streets are so narrow, you have to park half of your vehicle on the sidewalk so a truck can pass without ripping your mirror off. This city is full of ignorant complainting individuals. If you don't like the way, you can always move out.

stop worrying about what the civil servants are doing with their illegal parkings and start worrying about the war and other things. Whoever created this site needs to get a life. And for those who takes picture of cars, stop being a cry baby....
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 06:52 PM
WHY DONT THEY CREATE A WEBSITE OF THE GOOD THINGS THAT COPS HAVE DONE FOR THE CITIZENS OF NYC. LIKE THE TIME YOU DIDNT GET THAT SUMMONS WHILE SPEEDING, OR THE TIME THEY CAUGHT THE GUY THAT ROBBED YOU, OR THE TIME THEY SAVED YOUR CHILD FROM A BURNING BUILDING. IM SURE MANY OF YOU HAVE HAD SOME ENCOUNTER THAT WAS POSITIVE AND NEVER SAID THANK YOU. DURING SEPTEMBER 11 THEY WERE HEROS NOW IT SEEMS LIKE THEIR ZEROS. THINK HARD ABOUT WHATS REALLY IMPORTANT BEFORE YOU JUDGE OTHERS.
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 07:06 PM
The only disrespect I see here is the police officers for the law and the community.
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 07:23 PM
I think that I saw this car and a dozen others with permits on the dashboard today on East 66th Street between 2nd and 3rd. I wish that I owned a digital camera!
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 09:29 PM
Well, according to the 19th precinct they are entitled to park in NO STANDING EXPCEPT TRUCKS LOADING AN UNLOADING zones. I assure you they are all over the neighborhood.
The good news is someone took this to the community board and after two attempts got them to agree to change the signs to alternate side to give residenst a fair shot at curbside parking. Now lets see how long if ever it takes to make that happen.
If you can catch them in the NO STANDING ANYTIME areas on the ends of the island go for it. There is one picture posted oj this site of a car on the sidewalk in a NO STANDING ANYTIME area on that block.
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 10:36 PM
how about changing all the signs in the 3 block radius of the precinct to "No Standing Except Police Department Vehicles". that would be great. maybe the DOT should agree to that.....since you scumbags complaint too much. Acting like a cry baby.
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 11:00 PM
I assume you mean police officers private commuting vehicles. Talk about scum bags. Try the subway, you don't walk on water.
Posted on Thu, Mar 22 2007 at 11:21 PM
#14, I'm not a police officer.
Secondly, take the subway? These guys work shifts that last through the night, sometimes not knowing when they're coming in or going out. And do all cops live and work near subways? Ideal world you live in, buddy.
Please, these men and women go to work night after night to protect you fools. And to say they volunteer? Somebody has to be brave enough. Let me guess, you sit at a desk crunching numbers all day? Boy, you've got guts.
And while you're home on Christmas with your family? Who's looking to make sure yours is a safe one, while their families are alone? If they are afforded the "perk" of parking in a no standing zone because they can't find a legal spot, than so be it. I'm done arguing with you liberal fools. Just know that when you need a cop, he'll be there...and he won't be judging your choice of parking spots.
Go find something better to do with your lives than trolling the streets looking for cops "endangering others" by parking in no standing zones. I know last time I saw a cop car parked illegally, I almost died. Twice. Wouldn't want a cops car parked in a spot during alternate side! If the street doesn't get clean for 8 feet, the world could end! Find some real worries and leave these REAL men alone.

for #25 yay for you. your point is well taken on this mom who appreciates these brave individuals who go to work everyday NOT knowing if they will go home for dinner or ever. Those missed christmases with their children or other holidays because they are out there for US. THANK YOU NYPD FOR ALL YOU DO!!!!!! You other guys are sick. leave them be.

I love NYPD times 50!
Posted on Fri, Mar 23 2007 at 10:30 AM
I need cops when I can't handle things, and that is very little of the time since I don't break the law, park illegaly, invite conflict or feel I have more privileges than the people I serve. Yes, I am a civil servant and I take my job very seriously.
Law breakers, especially irresponsible, "i do it because..." people are the most intolerable and typically the ones who break the law and have not been caught.
Most officers I know have something in their everyday life they know would be seen as illegal but they do it anyway. That's life in the Big Apple.

Number 24 I know a hell of a lot more that you do about cops as I am from a family of cops.
Your post is ridiculous.
What the police shoudl be doing is setting a shinning example of behavior for the rest of us not thumbing their noses at the law and the community.
In addition many people work odd hours and in fact at odd hours parking is hardly an issue. This is broad daylight, normal work hours.
Posted on Sat, Mar 24 2007 at 07:30 AM
Number 28...Your "family of cops" must love you. I too come from a family of cops. They work long hard hours keeping morons like you safe. Do you emote your feelings to them over the parking issue? Im sure it isnt over a holiday dinner because all of my cop relatives are working holidays.
Devil's Advocate

The people in the resturant near me work 12 hours a day 5 days a week and 16 hours on the weekend. They come in at 5 AM and take the subway or bicycles. They have no pension inflated by artificial overtime the last year.
Posted on Sat, Mar 24 2007 at 12:10 PM
Perhaps what yuor are suggesting is we need one set of laws for the honest law abiding civilians and anither for scoff law cops. Problem is that is what we have here.
Posted on Mon, Mar 26 2007 at 09:36 AM
The police have important jobs, and they probably aren't paid enough. But we should find legal ways to compensate them, instead of creating a culture where the law does not apply to everyone. Policing has become more effective because they have discovered that stronger enforcement on smaller infractions helps prevent escalation to more criminal activity. Perhaps the NYPD should recognize the value of enforcing professional/ethical behavior on smaller behavior (like parking) with its own officers for the same reasons. If "bending" the rules is never allowed, we should expect to see less problems with corrupt officers. Thankfully, there are very few corrupt officers, but there are a few, and it doesn't take many to have a huge impact. I guess what I am trying to say is accountability is for everyone. And that if the police need to be paid more, taxpayers should stand up and do their share too.
