Illegal Police and FD Placard Parking

Observed by Dick Tracy on Fri, May 29 2009

Placard parking is not permitted in NO STANDING ANYTIME zones. This blatant abuse has been going on for years and was reported to the local City Council Member Garodnick, the local Community Board #8, the local Precinct Commander of the 19th and to the Commander of Manhattan North as well as Margaret Forgione of the DOT.

The community board resolved weeks ago to write to the NYPD yet the situation remains. Both the commander of Manhattan North and the 19th are aware of the issue and are defiant in their uncivil behavior.

That large truck bore an FDNY placard and had out of state plates.

I drive by this block every single day and there has not been or never will be one safety or traffic concern. Just have them change the signage to PD Vehicles only. This is really about you making a point of "But it's the rules!" That is an absurd argument. The 19th is one of the BEST precincts in the City and keeps crime to an almost non-existent level so all the yuppies on the Upper East Side can be happy. Do you even live in this neighborhood?

Obviously, crime exists. Refer to photo of crime.

The DOT examined this situation and declared the NO STANDING ANYTIME signs to be appropriate. This is illegal placard parking.

I didn't know parking was a crime. How many years do you get for parking in a no standing zone with a legal parking permit?

A crime is a breaking of the law, but you already knew that. This is a crime and the parking placard has no legitimate or official validity here.

Rather than admit that these acts are illegal and also part of a conspiracy amongst law enforcers and the law breakers (why else would the criminals deliberately drive to the location, illegally park and then deliberately pull the placard out of its place of hiding and place it on the dash to signal the on duty folks that the offender is part of the conspiracy and get the prior agreed to pass) ... or would you claim that this is all accidental?
Your straw men, ad hominem and other school yard bully tactics fall short of effectiveness of persuasion.

I think you are just jealous hiyall. It is not a criminal to park in a place where you can't park with a legal parking permit.

The infamous above the law attitude seems to be in plentiful supply rationalizing illegal placard use. This is quite cut and dry. Placard parking is not permitted in NO STANDING/STOPPING ANYTIME zones. This is illegal placard parking.

One more thing: instead of BOTHERING the police with pictures of their cars, go to E. 67 street between 2nd and 3rd and take pictures of the Fox 5 guys who park in the back of the bus stop, sometimes two and three cars deep. You can't miss it, north side of the street closer to 3rd Ave. You wouldn't take pictures of their cars, though, would you?

My friend you could not be more wrong. Now if the police did their job and FOX 5 theirs they would keep each other honest. Instead it is a good ole boy network. Just wondering how many FOX 5 posts you have reported and if so please put up some links. I have probably posted over 25.

Out of those 25 you posted how many actually got ticketed? The answer NONE.

Actually my photos and other efforts resulted in FOX 5 losing a press zone on east 68th street and signage change on three full city blocks to thwart their placard abuse. You have a tendency to talk a lot of things you know nothing about and shove your foot in your mouth on a regular basis.
