This guy is parked here almost all the time, there are many posts of his car on this site. He used to use no permit, since uncivilservants.org came on line he's sporting an expired restricted permit from another precinct. If he works here, wouldn't he get a new permit?

if he was transfered in the current year and had a permit from a current year, then no, he uses the old permit until the end of the year
as the permit is expired i fail to see why he would lack a new permit

I don't get it--why isn't he using his "permit from a current year" (i.e., 2007) if he has one?

Maybe he's just going jogging?

After browsing this site and the comments for several days and reading the NY Times Metro section article on 3/22/2007 I am more upset than ever before. There has to be a better way to reduce car traffic in New York than "outing" parking plaques on civil servants cars. Especially vital services like police, fire, and court employees. What is even worse is that when we park legally we are taking spots away from you! You are cutting off your nose to spite your face!!!
HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE THAT
That is Idiotic!!!!
I need to be able to park my car near my command. I don't block hydrants, crosswalks, or busstops, noone should. I do put the wheels on the sidewalk NOT close off the sidewalk. I may be there 8 hours on a normal day. I could be there 20 hours if I have an arrest a mobilization or a or unusual case.
I need to park the car near the command in a secure spot and do my job without worrying about the car. I can't take public transportation because of the service and route changes at 2 and 3 a.m. when I get off of work. Some bus lines are not even running. At that time in the morning it takes me 2 hours 10 minutes to get home but only 30 minutes by car.
Why don't you go after the MTA!!
On 9/11 all the busses and subways into Manhattan were shut down. How were the cops and firemen supposed to get to work then???
You guys have to think this through.
What is even worse is you censor the site!!! There is not a true debate you remove postings that argue for you to change or moderate your approach. It is a private site (hmmm...you are a not for profit) maybe you can do what you want with it, but you are not fair!
Is there something else behind this? This is animus, What are you really angry about??? Let's talk this out.
You need to be carefull about what you are starting here. There are a whole lot of laws on the books we don't enforce due to tradition and because social norms have changed. What if we handcuffed everyone for smoking a joint or not cleaning up after their dog, and put them through the system, instead of giving summonses. Do you really want to turn all of New York City into a Total Enforcement Zone? If you do I know where to start....West 26th.

#4, I responded to your veiled threats and meandering comments on one of the other posts where you copied them verbatim. It's rude to post the identical, lengthy abstruse comment to every post, just like it's rude to park on the sidewalk.

Hahahha! All that has changed is that now I just dont put my plaque in the window. All the other cops know who my car belongs to and they wont tag it with a summons. It puts smile to my face knowing now that a plaque-less car in the cow gate angers people like yourself to a greater extent.
Im loving it.
It must burn you to know that while you have to park your car on central park west or 5th avenue in order to enjoy a jog or a visit to the park , I can park my car at the cow gate and take the family to the zoo and enjoy the park area all day without having to think about feeding a meter or thinking about how much the garage tab is up to.
Wow, I love my NYPD plaque perk.
HAH!

What I don't get is how this vehicle is causing a problem. The pic looks like he's parked in a lot. Get a life guys. This is so damn trivial!

The average urban hippy will try to control the law enforcement body in their general area. No matter how hard they try they only fail at every turn.
This hippies have been trying to remove the cars from the cow gate since 1989. Nothing changed back then and nothing has changed today. Instead a new precinct was constructed which further angered the hippy liberal populace.
I guess they love fighting a lost cause.
Oh well. I still get to enjoy my great parking space in the cowgate. I can't wait till summer so I can bring the family to the great lawn to enjoy the free opera concerts.

Posting 8 is truly amazing. I have always been SO SUPPORTIVE of the New York Police; I find them to be courteous and really brave and hard-working. However, if this is how you guys really view us, the citizens of the city, as stupid dupes who (horrors!) have to take the subway or bus to the free opera concerts in the park. You are not setting a great example for your children by telling them that a "perk" of being a cop is ignoring any law you choose.

You don't enforce laws due to tradition? What a crock. You don't enforce laws because you choose not to, for whatever reason, but you do enforce them when you choose to. A bit unfair I'd say.
Last I heard, I've had three friends who were landcuffed and processed for smoking a joint, so that is a bunch of hooey. And giving fines to people who don't clean up after their dog? PLEASE! Like that has ever been enforced.
Get real.

Steve, did you notice that today there were more cars there than usual at the cow gate. Today is Friday and there is a special event at the CPP that requires a few extra cops. I am sure that the sudden surge in veh parking has pushed your blood pressure to levels never before seen.
Well there goes your ridiculous theory that this site is working to curb the parking there.
Like I said a new squad just swung in and the cars that you said were forced out just returned. You claim victory when in fact it is the nature of the beast. on an average tour change when a squad swings in, 10 cops rotate in and 10 cops rotate out. That means that on any given week you might not see the same cars for a 2-3 day stretch.
How can you claim the site is working when you dont even bother to notice that the same cars cycle in every 5 days.
Will someone give Steve a thalium test before he has a severe heart attack.
P.s Today I will park my car purposely further into the bridal path in order aggravate Steve to the point of death. Take all the pictures you want because in the end this is and shall always remain a SELF ENFORCEMENT AREA.

Attention LE on this site: We're far more resilient, and persistent, than you give us credit for. The battle against illegal parking by public employees began many, many years ago, and is only now starting to heat up. So if your aim is to deliberately park illegally to cause New Yorkers maximum danger, inconvenience, and offense, go ahead! We'll document it. More grist for the mill. And as you know, the specific info as to whose POVs are engaged in the abusive parking will be provided to your supervisors.
