New York Post: COP BUSTED IN TICKET FLAP

Reported by uncivil on Wed, Jun 24 2009

An off-duty rookie cop was arrested after snatching a hand-held parking ticket computer from a traffic agent trying to cite her for blocking a Bronx bus stop, sources said yesterday.

Officer Kenlly Nuñez, 32, was charged with obstruction of governmental administration for Monday's incident on West Kingsbridge Road, sources said.

Nuñez was parked in the bus stop when traffic agent Tarsha Bonneau approached and tried to scan the car's registration sticker with her ticket machine, the sources said.

When the 44th Precinct cop allegedly covered the registration with her hand, Bonneau checked her license plate. Nuñez snapped, "You can't give me a ticket!" grabbed the ticket machine from Bonneau, and then threw it into her car, the sources said.

Cops arrived and issued Nuñez a desk-appearance ticket. She will be suspended from the NYPD, the sources said.

What the article fails to mention is that everything pretty much has been squashed. The summons was taken care of but the officer was reprimanded for allowing this to get this far. The agent was also reprimanded for clashing heads with a representative of the umbrella corporation(NYPD). As of yesterday he was re-assigned to Brooklyn. Both agencies frown upon incidents like these and almost always punish all those involved. A valuable lesson was learned by both parties.

One crime leads to another, and they are still out there making decisions on who to go after for breaking laws. What a sad, pathetic joke.
