Why doesn't this car get a parking ticket?

Observed by ameko on Wed, Mar 21 2007

The sign says "NO STANDING ANYTIME" It is not right to illegal park. There are ridiculious amount of "permit only" parking space in the downtown court area, and yet own of this mercedes HAS to park in this spot.
Either way, this car should have been ticketed. Issue a summon, and then let the person appeal w/ his/her explaination as to what kind of "Official Business" that leads him/her to park illegally. :-P
And Yeah! I got your plate number. if u dont want ur plate # to show, STOP PARKING ILLEGALLY! then no one has to bit*h about their cars being targeted and the whole privacy stuff.

Funny how the picture taker really thinks he is doing an injustice to a person who clearly lives in another state who is in possession of a plaque that has no jurisdiction in NYC. Obviously his plaque is being given some sort of courtesy by the ticket issuing people that work for NYC. Be honest for once and admit to yourself that it is this courtesy that is really eating you up inside. The inner nibbling is driving you mad. Mad enough for you to come here and post this picture and assume that now you got him/her into a predicament.

Your as mad as a Mad Hatter.

So the guy does not get a ticket and you do. BIG DEAL!
Get over it and carry on with your life. Don't worry, be happy.

Find something to do with your life. Get a job, or go work with leppers or something. What the hell do you care?

Look, the cops want to install camera's throughout Manhattan to watch people. Now if that isn't an invasion of privacy, this isn't all you cops stop being such cry baby whiners and start obeying the law.

Orig. poster, thanks for posting.

#1, please read "The Problem" http://nyc.uncivilservants.org/the_problem
to see why a lot of us do not view this as a "courtesy".

I guess the point here is that people should not be abusing the parking permits. DO NOT PARKED ILLEGALLY!!! There are parking rules for a reason, abide by it.

WE ARE WATCHING THE WATCHERS.
So, GET OVER IT.
I'm glad for sites like this, Now, regular law abiding citizens can see how some civil servants really think.
No, we are not "skells", "libs", "hippies" nor "treehuggers".

Well, since when Police or public officials are above the law??? I love this site and the way they show the behavior of this people who think they are "the law" and can do whatever they are pleased !!

should the city have a office to take care of office abuse?.. because this is a good example.

The car belongs to the wife of the second cousin of NYPD Chief of Housing Joanne Jaffee.

Thanks, #4

#9, maybe u can forward this post to that person.
I guess ultimately it came down to it, it was the traffic officers who enforce the parking and ticketing rule "selective", which leads to the abuse of the use of any kind of permit.

I can park wherever I want and so can you. The problem is not the guy who's car is in the photo. The problem lies with the officials that don't press the ticket dispensing folks/cops to ticket these guys.

Cops are cops and they don't want to give other cops/city employees tickets. Why? because it comes back to bite cops in the rear. My problem is with cops that don't ticket/tow these illegally parked cars.

If a car is "TRUELY" in violation of a safety concern it should be tickted. But I don't get the dogooders here. If the car isn't blocking your driveway, who cares?? I mean really, who cares? So, maybe the cop, oh wait, it could be ANY CITY STATE or FEDERAL employee....... key word, employee. But if they're not blocking your driveway or car, who gives a rat's tail? I think it's hysterical there are people who are so obsessed witht this that they made up a site about illegal parking, and then go around the city to take pictures of it. And then do it again the next day. Are you guys also strong advocates for adequate parking when new buildings are constructed?

How can you be on official business for NY and live in Jersey?

As far as Jaffe, this is a state permit and not NYPD

NYS executive Branch???? since when can they register a vehicle in N.J. GEE, I wonder if they live in N.J. too !!!! probably a hard to fill job and the state couldn't find a N.Y.er so they had to hire someone from N.J.

At least some NYS employees who are given permits are permitted to live and therefore register their vehicles in NJ(or CT or PA) I know this because my agency requires state residency only for people in certain titles hired after a certain date. Also, in the 13 years I have had such a permit, I have never once received one before the old one expired. DOT routinely extends the expiration date . This car still should have been ticketed because the permit isn't valid in " No standing" zones
