New York Post: CITY CHEAT'S 10G TICKET

Reported by uncivil on Tue, Jul 14 2009

Talk about a steep parking ticket.

A city employee hoping to dodge a summons ended up with a suspension totaling a $10,000 loss when he used a phony parking permit and agency letterhead to try to beat a ticket, officials said yesterday.

Domingo Vazquez, who's worked for the city's housing authority since 1990, admitted to using his position as assistant resident buildings superintendent to buy a counterfeit parking permit marked with the agency's name in November 2007.

The next month, he penned a letter trying to get out of a parking fine on official agency stationery and included a photocopy of the permit, the City Conflicts of Interest Board said. He was caught last April and agreed to a 44-day suspension, which amounted to $10,164 in lost salary.

Mayor Bloomberg last year announced a citywide crackdown on the number of parking permits issued to city workers.
