It's a No Standing Zone. Not what I would call a 'safety hazard.' This car isn't blocking anyone, especially your own car or driveway so I must ask. Who cares?? Does this really eat up you guys that you have to make up a website about and go around the city, take pictures of it and come back to post them??
It's not a question of anyone being "eaten up." We're addressing a long-running irritation for a lot of folks, and as an activity it's fun and mildly stimulating. We're not saving the world, but we're trying to make a small difference in our part of it.
I'm assuming the area is marked "no standing 4-7" for a reason. If it's not necessary, let's get the signs changed. As it is, the folks in this detective bureau seem to just be unilaterally vetoing whatever process DOT went through to put up those signs. It's one branch of government showing contempt for the law and for the city agency that has the expertise to make these decisions. Not an earthshattering injustice, but it's a terrible example to set and has a corrosive effect on community relations.
(Also, this was low-hanging fruit -- I got the camera out for the hydrant blocker in an earlier post, then noticed the signs.)
This one is not fair. The No Standing Zones are frequently used by cops for legitimate parking. We don't have a sign that says, "Parking for Cops only" and perps smash our windows for less. I agree that NOONE should block a fire hydrant, bus stop, or crosswalk - but parking at SOME no standing zones is valid and fair for a cop going to work. Interesting how many of the comments on this site are very anticop when half the violators are not civil servants.

Again,
