The reason it says no standing for you is so it's there for him when he comes.
In situations like this, I don't understand why the city doesn't redesignate "no standing" zones near prisons as parking for special permits. I'm not a proponent of attacking civil servants willy nilly for minor parking infractions. The city is to blame for some of this.

#6, let's let all the civil servants park where ever they want, even if it means endangering others and breaking parking rules.
It's been interesting because I have talked to many people in the neighborhhod around Madison Street and Grand Street who actually prefer that these guys park with their permits in all these illegal spaces. The reason is simple self-interest (As long as theyre not parked at fire hydrants). IF they dont park in their "private" spaces, they are going to compete with us normal people for the legal spots and there are certainly not enough legal spots to go around. Maybe the city ought to look at some of the No Parking and No Standing spots and turn them into legal spots. But in any event, most people I spoke with dont want more competition for the precious few spots.

Is there a safety reason for the No Standing sign?
