FAKE PARKING PERMIT

clinton street between stanton and rivington, Manhattan. Observed by REALFED on Mon, Aug 17 2009

I'm a REAL FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER and have recently noticed this phony parked in front of my apartment building on a regular basis. Ironically, I received a $95 parking ticket last week when I stupidly parked in the loading/unloading zone for 15 minutes with my civilian rental car, but this dope parks here all the time! Hey NYPD! WAKE UP!

A Truck Loading Zone NOT

East 66th street Third Avenue, Manhattan. Observed by Dick Tracy on Tue, Jul 28 2009

Main_post_14118 Ribbon_fake

Behold the North side of East 66th Street between Second and Third Avenues. The signage designates a NO STANDING 7 AM- 7PM TRUCK LOADING AND UNLOADING ZONE. When in actuality it is placard abuse heaven. Bogus placards of all sorts are used and abused on this cesspool of a block. The very same block described here:

Military Redoux

10th Ave and w. 49th st, Manhattan. Observed by Buttle on Fri, May 15 2009

Main_post_12481

Placard reads "NY State Department of Military and Naval Affairs" 53rd Army Liason - Army National Guard. Should read "Division" rather than Department, but it could be a typical NYC gov snafu. Doubtful he is on military business, however - their offices are at 643 Park Ave.

Military!!??

Maybe it's the German military. They certainly slapped enough eagles on the placard (at least 4 by my count) and not very many US soldiers I know can afford a new Beemer convertible. I'm tempted to list the plate because it was personalized and the guy's not law enforcement.

I couldn't find a matching agency on the list.

Expired NYPD permit? No problem. Just park and traffic agent got you covered.

180 Grand St. New York, NY, Manhattan. Observed by hungtat on Sat, May 02 2009

Main_post_12245 Ribbon_invalid

This Toyota Camry was parked on a Saturday during the time period restricted for commerical trucks. It had an expired NYPD parking permit with licence number partially covered by a NYPD PBA card, and the number did not match the license plate. I asked a traffic agent who skipped right through it why he did not ticket this car. He said in his own words "I have instruction" and that "the guy might be too busy to get the updated one." So now you know not to bother reporting to the city if you ever seen a car with the expired permit. Traffic agent does not care anyway and we as taxpayers will just have to pick up the tabs.

Time and space warp.

Here's a Pennsylvania vehicle with a 2001 MTA Transit permit for a Manhattanville location that we see in parked an 8th Avenue at 51 Steet loading zone.

Pipe perp

There's not even a need for these NON permits to be current. A 2006 PBA card is apparently enough to allow these plumbers trucks free parking all day in loading, unloading zone – Week after week for about the last year.

New crime tactic

575 broadway, Manhattan. Observed by doggie on Thu, Jul 31 2008

Main_post_8925

The Brooklyn NYPD Task force is apparently trying out a new tactic in Manhattan – sanding the criminals away. They avoid detection by not having commercial plates on their vehicle.

moderator's note: plate # on placard (Brooklyn South Task Force) does not match actual plate.

This is just one of the regulars from the nearby Criminal Court on Lafayette St. off Canal Street. Everyday correction officers, police officers & other court workers park in this area even though both sides of the street has "No Standing" signs.

This Army recruiter parks right in front of door

No Standing means no problem for this Army recruiter, who I watched pull up and park right in front of his recruiting center's door on West 22nd Street (around the corner from the official 688 Sixth Avenue building address). Today's New York Post mentioned that in White Plains the Marines finally got their impounded Impala back after paying $860 in fines. It's a pity these recruiters give the impression they are above the law.
