Tuesday in the Dirty Five-Two (Part I)
perry and east 209, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jul 20 2010
Repeat offender, blocking a fire hydrant.
In a neighborhood that had two devastating fires in the past year that gutted the main shopping strip.
What does the Dirty Five-Two do when their dirty cop buddy puts us in danger? Nothing.
More of the same embarrasing, unprofessional, dangerous trash each and every day.
Getting hot in the Dirty Five-Two
206 and perry, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Mon, Jul 19 2010
Let's hope the baking sun is the only thing that gets overheated around.
Because if we have another fire, the FDNY is clearly going to have a hard time getting to a hydrant, what with all the dirty cops blocking them.
They know better than to block the hydrants. Yet here is a dirty cop, from the 49th Precinct with no conceivable purpose to claim "official business" here parking less than 3 feet away.
And the shameless officers here in the Dirty Five-Two refuse to ticket and tow. So those of us who live here continue to hope their arrogance and lack of integrity don't cost somebody their life!
It is downright shameful!!!
Multiple Threat!
201 and perry, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Fri, Jul 16 2010
They're getting creative about breaking the law and putting people in danger up here in the Dirty Five-Two.
This guy somehow managed to both block a fire hydrant and block a crosswalk AT THE SAME TIME!
Instead of giving him the TWO tickets he deserved, and then towing his car, what did the dirty cops driving by do?
We don't really know... but it's not hard to imagine they were elbowing each other and laughing it up. At any rate, they did not DO THEIR JOB.
Personal parking spot
perry and 205th, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Wed, Jul 14 2010
Can't find a place to park in front of your house? Too lazy to walk a block or two? No problem if you're a cop who lives in the Dirty Five-Two!
You have your own personal parking spot reserved by the fire hydrant.
(This is not the first time it has been blocking this same hydrant. And it has been reported to the NYPD before too.)
Unaccountable
perry avenue and 209th, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jul 13 2010
Where can you draw a paycheck for doing the very opposite of the job you are paid to perform? Apparently the NYPD!
Take this example. This personal vehicle is parked at a fire hydrant - illegal under any circumstances. It does not even have an NYPD placard, just a bunch of NYPD junk somebody threw in the dashboard.
And it doesn't get ticketed.
A professional police force would be ashamed the NYPD junk in this dashboard looked so, well, junky. But here, they seem to be proud of the fact they look like slobs while breaking the law.
It's all just so pathetic it would be funny... except it's dangerous to our community, and a waste of our hard-earned tax dollars!
Don't Walk in the Dirty Five-Two
Perry Avenue and East 201st Street, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Mon, Jul 12 2010
Another dirty cop blocking a crosswalk in the Dirty Five-Two.
The people who pay taxes in this precinct get ticketed if they don't move their cars on time (early, actually, but whose clock is the judge going to believe). Meanwhile, the people they pay park wherever they want, no matter how dangerous and inconvenient to the people they swore to serve and protect.
Once again, some are breaking the law, the others are letting them do it. And none of them are honestly earning their living.
Dirty Five-Two Hates Firefighting

Another dirty cop, blocking a fire hydrant.
Same dirty precinct, letting him put everyone in danger.

Aspiring To Become A Dirty Cop?
Perry Avenue and E 205th St, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jul 06 2010
So when I got to the subway this morning, there was a dirty wannabe cop blocking the wheelchair ramp on the corner.
(For additional detail, the crossing is at an angle, and the vehicle fully blocked the crossing, even though the picture from a single perspective only shows it encroaching "a little" on the actual handicap ramp.)
Of course, the Dirty Five-Two lets him get away with it.
Really, as long as you pay homage to the NYPD, it looks like the Dirty Five-Two will let you park anywhere you want.
There was no official placard in the windshield (not that it would have been any more legal). Instead, there was an NYPD patch and a Civilian Handbook from the NYPD.
It is scary if this is the type of person who wants to become a cop - some guy who can't be bothered to walk a block or two to get a legal, safe parking space.
This joker should be put on a Do Not Hire list! Right after they ticket and tow his car, that is!!!
Do As I Say!
perry avenue and east 207th street, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jul 06 2010
So on my way to the subway this morning, I saw a private vehicle on my block that had been ticketed. It was parked about a foot too close to a hydrant.
Then on the next block there was another vehicle parked several feet closer to a hydrant. It was not ticketed. The Dirty Five-Two gave their dirty cop buddy a free pass as soon as they saw his placard.
Do as I say, not as I do? The Dirty Five-Two, breaking the law while writing out tickets to everyone else for less serious offenses.
Just pathetic
E 204th and Mosholu Parkway S, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Fri, Jul 02 2010
It really is pathetic that these guys are so lazy they can't be bothered to walk half a block.
They make the whole police force look inept by branding their laziness with the NYPD logo too.
Or they're so arrogant and petty that they block fire hydrants just to show off they can do it.
The bottom line is this: they have made a commitment to enforce the law. If they are breaking it, they are not honoring their commitments. They are not doing their job, and are not earning their paychecks.
It's not just the handful who are actually parking illegally either. The rest are letting them do it. Covering up for them, even, when law abiding citizens make reports to 311.
So they're all lying and stealing our tax money. Fire the whole lot and get some honest cops up in here!
Professional Courtesy
bedford park boulevard and bainbridge avenue, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Fri, Jul 02 2010
Let's examine this "professional courtesy"...
- A dirty cop parked at a fire hydrant.
- No ticket from the local precinct.
- Everybody in the neighborhood sees the cops breaking the law in broad daylight.
- It is clear to everybody there is no professionalism in the precinct!
So, the cop from another precinct comes into this precinct and makes all the officers here look bad... and they call that "courtesy"??? They stick up for the guy making them look bad because he's lazy?
How about they try a little more intelligent model:
The officers who come into somebody else's precinct obey the law and help their fellow officers look good?!
Come on folks. Just a little common sense!
The cops are responsible for the majority of our day-to-day lawlessness
grand concourse and bedford park boulevard, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jun 29 2010
The dirty cops in our neighborhood are actually responsible for the majority of the day-to-day disorder we witness in our community.
The NYPD used to apply the Broken Windows hypothesis. Experience showed the broken windows that were not fixed attracted more vandalism and worse illegal behavior. The NYPD made a lot of progress by eliminating the small signs of disorder in a community, before they escalated into major crimes.
Now, it's the NYPD breaking the windows!
Making the FDNY look bad
perry avenue and east 207th street, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Tue, Jun 29 2010
So much for "professional courtesy"!
This vehicle was parked several feet too close to a hydrant, and displayed a patch from the FDNY to avoid getting a ticket. That's right, a patch. Not a placard, just a cheap novelty patch anyone could buy at shops all over town. And it worked with the Dirty Five-Two. While a car parked further from a hydrant a block away got a ticket, this vehicle was not ticketed.
There's no reason to believe the unethical individual parked at this hydrant had any real affiliation with the FDNY at all. But using the patch gives the impression it's a dirty fire fighter who doesn't even respect fire hydrants.
The Dirty Five-Two knows better than to pass over any vehicle parked at a hydrant. There is certainly no excuse for passing over a vehicle with a patch, instead of an official placard.
Making our firefighters look bad is most definitely not "professional courtesy."
Dirty Five-Two Likes to Live Dangerously
3201 grand concourse, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Sat, Jun 26 2010
Here's another testament for stupidity!
Parked in front of a fire hydrant.
A placard from another precinct, not even issued to this vehicle.
Blocks away from any station house.
What does the Dirty Five-Two do? Nothing!
They just let it block the fire hydrant for hours on end. Who cares if residents (including this idiot's own family or friends) die in a fire. Safety is so unimportant to them, as long as they can show the neighborhood they're above the law.
Dirty Five-Two Puts Us In Danger!!!
perry and east 209th street, Bronx. Observed by norwoodcitizen on Fri, Jun 25 2010
Let them park anywhere they want, and they'll block the fire hydrants too. They don't care. No honor, and no honesty.
Apparently no intelligence, either... If they're willing to block the fire hydrant so they don't have to walk to get home, they might end up getting their own family killed.
And, as usual, the Dirty Five-Two doesn't care. No ticket on any vehicle with a placard, even if it's blocking a hydrant?
Fire every last one of the cops parked illegally, and every one that drove by without writing a ticket.
Fire them, before somebody dies in a fire!!!

This vehicle has been without a front license plate for at least 10 months. Anonymous letters to the captain of the precinct as well as NYPD Headquarters have not made a difference. The windows on this vehicle are so darkly tinted that I can not read the permit number.
This vehicle is sometimes parked in the area designated for Police Vehicles.
Why no front license plate?????
Isn't this illegal? How about the tinted windows???

I guess a NYPD permit from a Harlem precinct allows one to park indefintely in Soho, and flaunt alternate side restrictions. Even the street sweeper had to go make way for the holder of the "special permit".
Mind you the nearest precinct is several, several blocks and away and what "police activity" could be taking 24hrs and counting (time the car's been parked there)

DSNY officer looked at placard, and did not ticket or place a sticker on the window. Of course who knows if this guy is really a cop, since his invalid permit has no plate number. This guy's placard is invalid for use here anyway, as it's a Restricted permit for the 42nd Pct, which is in the Bronx, not the East Village.

Garbage Dump
102nd Street and Lexington Avenue, Manhattan. Observed by BicyclesOnly on Mon, May 07 2007
To all appearances, this is where the NYPD personnel assigned to the 23rd dump the garbage left from meals in their cars--in a little cordoned-off spot on the street. The sign partially shown says "RMP's only," so there's no reason to speculate about where the garbage comes from. Luckily for the pigeons (and the rats at night), the pens prevents the street cleaners from removing the feast. I suspect the residents on this block have gotten the not-so-subtle message that this practice sends about NYPD's view of the community.
I'm calling this a safety hazard for the vermin attracted.
FIRE OFFICER OR FAKE PERMIT?
2265 University Avenue and W183rd St, Bronx. Observed by Cositacat on Wed, Apr 11 2007
These pictures were taken in the Bronx. As I was going to move my car parked on University Avenue between W183rd Street and W Fordham Road the ticket officer just skipped this car and went straight to mine. The sign posted was for Street Cleaning starting at 11:30AM for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I confronted the ticket officer about this car, her name T.E. Walker (will get her badge number when I come back and edit this posting), and she told me "Don't you see the PBA cards?) At which point I answered her back that the car was parked illegally even so and that there was no official fire business taking place and mentioned that I would post these photos on this site. She then told me that the car would be ticketed later and she sped off. The car was never ticketed and she never even bothered to research whether this was a legal permit.
Bogus Placard
East 87th Street and Park Avenue, Manhattan. Observed by BicyclesOnly on Thu, Mar 08 2007
The holographic seal is a nice touch, but this is obviously a bogus placard. It reads "Fire Department--City of New York" across the top, but is not issued by the Fire Department or any other City agency. Rather, it is issued by a union of EMT's and paramedics with offices in Long Island City and states that the placard holder is on "Official U.E.P. Business," not city business. In any event, it is long expired. The guy was parked during alt side and the street could not be cleaned. I have no general problem with unions, but this is ridiculous--a union is no different than a private business or individual when it comes to illegal parking--even if it is a union of civil servants.
